INTRODUCTION

2024 - Year of Renewal and Revival
Faith,
Focus, and
Fire.
Emphasis
Building our Faith (seek out the old paths)
The person and work of Jesus Christ (proclaim the simplicity of the Gospel)
The ministry of the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ (ignite and live in revival fire every day)
A Year of Renewal and Revival
Luke 13:6–9 NKJV
6 He also spoke this parable: “A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. 7 Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, ‘Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it use up the ground?’ 8 But he answered and said to him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. 9 And if it bears fruit, well. But if not, after that you can cut it down.’ ”
The third year was to be the year of renewal and revival.
But there was work that needed to be done.
This April will mark the end of our third year at FHC.
We’ve come along ways, but there is still more work to be done.
The time is now.
We are going to begin 2024 by getting Rooted.
Ephesians 3:14–19 NKJV
14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Notice the emphasis in these verses:
Foundational Faith
Focus on Jesus
Being Filled with fulness of God by the Holy Spirit
And today, we are going to focus on being Rooted in the Word of God.

STATEMENT OF FAITH - NO. 1

We believe that the Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is the only divinely inspired and infallible written Word of God; cannot be added to, subtracted from, or superseded; and is authoritative in matters of faith and conduct as our source for all doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness.

MESSAGE POINTS

The Nature of the Word of God
Inspired and Authoritative
2 Timothy 3:16–17 NKJV
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Infallible and Inerrant
2 Peter 1:21 NKJV
21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
Eternal and Unchangeable
Isaiah 40:8 NKJV
8 The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.”
The Power of the Word of God
Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
The Word of God is Living
John 6:63 NKJV
63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
The Word of God is Powerful
Isaiah 55:10–11 NKJV
10 “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, 11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Power to Save Us
James 1:21 NKJV
21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
Power to Sanctify Us
John 17:17 NKJV
17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
Power to Keep us from Sin
Psalm 119:11 NKJV
11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.
Power to Provide Healing and Deliverance
Psalm 107:20 NKJV
20 He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.
Power to Make us Fruitful and Prosperous
Psalm 1:3 NKJV
3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
Power to Give us Guidance and Direction
Psalm 119:105 NKJV
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.
Power to Give us Peace
Psalm 119:165 NKJV
165 Great peace have those who love Your law, And nothing causes them to stumble.
Power to Give us Victory over Demonic Spirits
Luke 4:36 NKJV
36 Then they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, “What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.”
Power to Help us Grow Spiritually
1 Peter 2:2 NKJV
2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,
Power to Increase our Faith
Romans 10:17 NKJV
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
The Word of God is Sharp
The Word of God is all edge.
God’s Word reaches us with surprising precision.
Sometimes people wonder why the preacher seem to be so relevant to their lives.
The Word of God is Piercing
Not only does the Word of God have an edge to cut, but it also has a point to pierce.
God’s Word can penetrate even the hardest heart.
The Word of God is Discerning
The Word of God will reveal our true motives.
The Word of God will convict us.
Our Response to the Word of God
Our Response to the Word of God
Eagerly Receive It
Acts 17:11 NKJV
11 These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.
Seek to Understand It
Matthew 13:23 NKJV
23 But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”
Love It
Psalm 119:47 NKJV
47 And I will delight myself in Your commandments, Which I love.
Accept It
Acts 2:41 NKJV
41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.
Proclaim It
Acts 8:4 NKJV
4 Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word.
