· 4 viewsWhat is the most valuable thing you possess? Some people might answer their home, their land, cars, jewelry, or stock. Still other people might answer relationships, family, health, or overall wellbeing. However, Jesus said that the most valuable thing you possess is your own soul. Your soul is worth more than all of the riches of the universe combined together. If you could acquire it all, it would still not add up to the value of your eternal soul. Jesus said some hard things during His ministry that were difficult for people to understand and accept. In today’s message we wrestle with this question from Jesus, “What shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”

What makes the soul so valuable?...
Your Soul is Valuable because it is a Unique Creation of God
You were Created by God
7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
You are made up of Spirit, Soul, and Body
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Your are a Unique Creation of God
13 For thou hast possessed my reins: Thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Marvellous are thy works; And that my soul knoweth right well.

Your Soul is Valuable because it Will Live Forever
At Death, Your Soul Return to God
7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
Your Soul is Immortal and Will Live on Forever Either in Heaven or Hell
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
Your Soul is Valuable because the Devil Wants to Steal It
The Devil is a Thief, a Murderer, and a Destroyer
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
The Devil is a Devourer
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
The Devil is Trying to Take as Many Souls to Hell with Him as He Can
14 Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, And opened her mouth without measure: And their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, And he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.
Your Soul is Valuable because of the Price Jesus Paid to Redeem It
Your Soul is Worth Jesus’ Life
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
God Paid for Your Redemption because He Loves You
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

The Top 10 Ways to Lose Your Soul
10. Greed
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.
9. Dishonesty
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
8. Theft
15 Thou shalt not steal.
7. Impurity
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
6. Murder
13 Thou shalt not kill.
5. Dishonoring Parents
12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
4. Forgetting the Sabbath
8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates.
11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
3. Taking the Lord’s Name in Vain
7 “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
2. Idolatry
4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;
5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,
6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
1. Not Believing in God
2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
