The Lord’s Supper

At this time we are going to partake in the Lord’s Supper.
The Lord’s Supper commemorates the death of Christ for our sins, through the bread which He made the emblem of His broken body and through the cup, the emblem of His shed blood. By participating, a believer expresses his love for Christ, demonstrates faith in Him, and pledges fidelity to Him.

Warning of Partaking Unwortily.

1 Corinthians 11:27–30 “Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.” (Uncover the sacraments)

Luke 22:7-22

Read
Luke 22:7–20 KJV 1900
Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed. And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat. And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare? And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in. And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready. And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover. And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him. And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

Distribution of the Sacraments

We no come to observe the ordinance of The Lord’s Supper, given to us to celebrate in memory of His broken body and shed blood. It is said that on the night before He was betrayed, at the conclusion of the feast of the Passover which he and his disciples were celebrating, He took the bread and having blessed it, break it, and gave his disciples saying “This is my body, which is given for you”.

After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

Closing

Ask piano player to prepare a hymn.
(**** After our Lord and His disciples ate the bread and drank the wine, celebrating thus the first supper of our Lord, it is said that they sang hymns and went out. Let us now sing a hymn of celebration as we close our Easter Sunday Service. May the Lord keep and bless you this week. ****)
