THE RESURRECTION IS THE GOSPEL
Romans 6:5 NLT
5 Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was.
That is our Hope—Life as He was raised from the dead.
Romans 6:5 TPT
5 For since we are permanently grafted into him to experience a death like his, then we are permanently grafted into him to experience a resurrection like his and the new life that it imparts.
There is a certainty for HOPE to leap to BELIEVING FAITH
EVERY FOLLOWER OF JESUS HAS A DESTINY
Every follower of Jesus has a not-so-great “before”,
NO ONE CAME HEALED, DELIVERED, OR SET FREE!
The blind man didn’t come and say, “I once was seeing, now I see better.”
No— he said “I once was blind, NOW I SEE!”
We might remember others:
A rash, brash fisherman.
A pious, fancy-pants religious leader.
A thieving, indifferent-to-suffering tax collector.
A demon-possessed woman so insignificant that her “before” isn’t even recorded, and we’re left to surmise what it might’ve been.
THEY ALL HAD A DESTINY!!
Romans 6:6–8 NLT
6 We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. 7 For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. 8 And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him.
WE ALL HAVE A DESTINY!!
NO MATTER WHAT OUR PAST HAS LOOKED LIKE— JESUS IS OUR FUTURE!
Romans 6:23 NLT
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
JESUS IS OUR FUTURE—ETERNAL LIFE
THE LEAST OF THESE RECEIVE THE SAME GLORIOUS REWARD
I have heard many talk about what it takes to get to heaven and wonder at times if they have been good enough...
MY MOTHER HAD THOSE SAME THOUGHTS until she discovered the “Complete saving grace of Jesus”.
She found:
2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT
17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
2 Corinthians 5:18–21 NLT
18 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. 19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” 21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
Every follower of Jesus has a not-so-great “before.” But every follower of Jesus has a great “after.”
That rowdy fisherman, Peter, became the bedrock preacher of the early church, healer of the sick and lame, and fearless unto death.
That impersonal religion leader, Nicodemus, became personal friends with Jesus and finally understood and experienced change by the Scriptures he’d devoted his life to studying.
That taxman, Matthew, a traitor to his family became a member of the elite twelve and author of the first gospel of the New Testament.
And that woman, Mary Magdalene, she was insignificant to even have her “before” recorded was so precious to Jesus that she became the first person He appeared to after He rose from the dead—the first one to hear His tender voice and witness the culmination of all He claimed to be and do.
And she got to tell the boys.
CLOSING-WE ALL NEED JESUS
You may not be demon possessed like Mary Magdalene, but you possess alienating sin just like Mary…Peter…Nicodemus…the blind man…and the tax man.
The only way we can get rid of that SIN is through the sacrifice of Jesus.
He paid the price—His very own blood
Hebrews 10:4–5 NLT
4 For it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. 5 That is why, when Christ came into the world, he said to God, “You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings. But you have given me a body to offer.
Hebrews 10:9–10 NLT
9 Then he said, “Look, I have come to do your will.” He cancels the first covenant in order to put the second into effect. 10 For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time.
We ALL NEED a Savior—JESUS
NOT JUST ONCE… but a LIFESTYLE to serve others.
To present HOPE to all those around us each day!
