GENESIS PT 1

In the beginning.. let’s go through Genesis piece by piece, story by story, and break down the beginning of God’s creation, His covenant with man, and see all of the foreshadows and types that we can see along the way!

Creation of the world

v1-5

Psalm 33:6. Heb 11:3.

This is completely different than the atheist world view.. big bang? uncaused cause?

“in the beginning” John 1:1.

Let there be light.. 2 Cor 4:6.

From the beginning there was a separation of light and darkness. 2 Cor 6:14-16.

Creation of time?

v6-8

Prov 8:27-29.

v9-10

Job 38:8-11.

This is interesting because you see that God is in charge of the seas. Jews in Jesus’ day would be very aware of this fact that only God can control the seas (from things like Job) and yet we see JESUS calming storms, commanding waves and walking on the water. This all showed that JESUS is GOD!

v 11-13

God causes all things to grow Psalm 104:14.

“Fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind”

John 15?

We are the trees, bearing fruit, which bears the seed of it’s source

FRUIT IS OUR LIFESTYLE - BEARING THE SEED OF ITS SOURCE - THE WORD OF GOD - BECAUSE OUR ROOT, OUR VINE, IS CHRIST, WHO IS THE WORD!

V14-19

For light, for signs and seasons

Joel 2:30-31.

Luke 21:25.

Psalm 104:19.

Jer 31:35.

Creation of animals

v20-23

“Let the waters swarm” “Let the earth sprout vegetation”

These things seem to have come forth from the earth, and the waters. This is significant when we see the creation of man compared to the creation of other things

v24-25

“Let the earth bring forth beats”

HE gave us dominion

MALE AND FEMALE! We will cover this more in ch 2…

HE CALLED US TO BE FRUITFUL, TO MULTIPLY.. TO SUBDUE THE EARTH!

INTERESTING: No meat before the fall? No bloodshed, because blood is needed for remission of sins? No sin in the world? No sacrifice? Life is in the blood?

EVERYTHING GOD MADE IS GOOD!
