What are we doing today?
We are moving into a new season of ministry impact.
This is a significant day in the life of GBC.
READ (DEUTERONOMY 1:6-8)
Moses was the spokesperson, chosen by God to speak on his behalf as Israel’s lawgiver and leader.
Moses was talking to a new generation.
Numbers 14
Moses was seeking commitment.
1. Start as the right place.
1. Start as the right place.
“The Lord our God.” (lit. Yahweh our God)
This God, the only true god, had redeemed Israel.
He chose them, and entered a sacred agreement.
He would be their God, and they would be his people.
God had already told the people to go.
They failed in faith.
“Our God” - The close, personal relationship existing between God and his covenant people.
The gap between general agreement and financial commitment is massive.
God has sent people on dangerous missions before. He has called people to take journeys on faith.
He desires to be up close to his people.
God is our father and wants his children to trust him.
2. God requires movement.
2. God requires movement.
Even though God had promises the land before them, Israel still had to take possession of it.
They would have to take his journey, march into battle, and do the work.
Climbing power pole and jumping on faith.
This is an important principle for modern believers.
Whatever God promises, he delivers. But laying hold of those promises still requires our obedience.
Church, it’s been long enough. We’ve got to go on this journey together.
What’s our other choices?
Full engagement is possible when God’s people choose to obey.
3. Listen to the promises of the past.
3. Listen to the promises of the past.
This new generation were to pay attention and get moving.
The place that Yahweh promised their ancestors.
“1 The LORD said to Abram: Go from your land, your relatives, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. 2 I will make you into a great nation, I will bless you, I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, I will curse anyone who treats you with contempt, and all the peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” - Genesis 12:1-3
Gen 15:1-6; 18; 17:7-8; 26:3-4; 28:13-14; 50:24.
