Give Honor: Give Honor to God
Honor: Pastor Russell, All of the Preacher/Pastors who are present/ to My family,
Honor: Pastor Russell, All of the Preacher/Pastors who are present/ to My family,
This is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.
Some may know him as Pastor Levi Cyrus, but I know him as Uncle Moose.
He was on of my favorite preachers, and frankly, he was my hero.
Family, There is a word of encouragement, written by John, on the island of patmos,
The book of Revelation, Chapter 14, vs 13 would read,
Revelation 14:13 (KJV 1900)
And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
I just want to encourage you with this thought,
“A Blessed Transition”
John writes, “And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord, from Henceforth: yea, saith the spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
This Blessed:
in the original sense means,
Happy, fortunate, or Better off even,
So when John writes these words, he’s saying Better off is the dead, that die in the Lord.
Family I know this may seem like a oxymoronic statement but this was a Blessed transition,
I know it may be hard right now, but this was a blessed transition
I know you may feel a lot of pain right now, but this was a blessed transition.
and i’ve got 3 reasons why this was a blessed transition and I’m going to my seat.
This was a blessed transition because of
His Relationship with the Lord
The Bible says Blessed are the dead that die IN the LORD.
Well off are the dead that die IN THE LORD.
You see the key that unlocks the door to your blessed transition is your relationship with the Lord.
and I’m glad that Uncle Moose had a relationship with the church of God.
I’m honored he had a relationship with the Baptist church
I’m honored he had a relationship with the church of Christ holiness
I’m honored he had a relationship with the Church of God in Christ
I’m honored he had a relationship with the apostolic church,
but I’m grateful that he had a relationship with the Lord.
and all of us in here has benefited from my uncle’s relationship
It was through his relationship with God that we were able to get a word sunday in and sunday out
It was through his relationship with God that broken marriages were restored
It was through his relationship with God that made churches grow and develop in the faith
It was through his relationship with God where cancer dried up
It was through his relationship with God that hundreds maybe even thousands of people asked “what must I do to be saved”
it was through his relationship with God that we learned
“We should bless the Lord at all times”
It was through his relationship with God that we learned that
“the Lord is our light and salvation,”
It was through his relationship with God that we learned that
“They that wait upon the Lord”
This is a bless transition because he had RELATIONSHIP
but then this is a blessed transition because he receives
2. Rest
John says Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord Hence forth says the Lord that they Rest from their labors,
my uncle WORKED.
He would preach 2/3 services on sunday,
Leave service and Go sit with danny all night,
Leave in the morning and work at richwood all day.
He was a WORKER.
30 years he pastored.
He’s been preaching since he was five.
His first members were my momma, my aunts and my uncles.
He would stand outside with a self made pulpit and proclaimed the Gospel of Jesus christ like his life depended on it.
I would watch him do 4 and 5 night revivals and give it all he got everynight.
HE WORKED
He mentored
He counsiled
He taught
He was a sitter
He supported his people
He Pastored
and HE PREACHED>
I mean he preached.
He preached everywhere,
all around the country he stood and proclaimed the Gospel of Jesus christ.
He never stopped preaching.
He preached all of the funerals of our family members
My grandma
uncle lee lee
Uncle coleman
Tete dede
He did not let sickness stop him
He did not let death stop him
He did not let covid stop him
in fact during covid he bought a pulpit, a monitor and a micriphone and he preached in his HOUSE!!!!!
He worked I said
and because of his hard work.... HE GETS TO REST.
Not only is this a blessed transition because he had relationship and he gets rest.
but lastly this is a blessed transition
3. Because he Gets a reward.
His work won’t go in vain.
The bible says HIS WORKS WILL FOLLOW HIM.
He gets a reward.
What is the reward- well its been a minute since he seen his brother vincent, its been a minute he’s seen some of the members he burried
Its been a minute since he seen uncle coleman
It’s been a minute since he burried his mother
HE GETS A REWARD.
no more sickness
no more body racking with pain- he gets a reward.
He gets to see JESUS,
HE GETS A REWARD.
come here Paul
I’ve faught the good fight, I’ve finished the race and I’ve kept the faith
NOW there is a crown of righteous waiting on me
HE GETS A CROWN.
there is a story my uncle Moose would tell at every funeral.
Back when my Uncle Moose was younger,
it would be Uncle Moose, eric, my mom, Jackie, tete debra, my uncle Lele and the rest of my grandmother’s children.
When it was time for them to go to bed, they would have to take a bath one at a time and go straight to bed.
Jackie would shower and go to bed.
Mom would shower and go to bed
Debra would shower and go to bed
lele would shower and go to bed
Neicey would take a bath and go to bed.
but in the morning,
my grandma would ring a bell,
and when you heard the sound of that bell, YOU’d have to get up, no matter when you went to bed.
They all went to sleep at different times,
but when they heard the sound of the bell, they all got up at the same time
and lele went to bed.
uncle coleman went to bed.
vincent went to bed
Hattie may went to bed
and on March 18, 2024 my uncle moose went to bed.
and even though they went to bed at different times.
one of these old days,
we gone take off mortality and put on immortality
One of these old days, the trumpet will sound and the dead in christ shall rise first and those who reamin will be caught up.
so family Be NOT DIS MAYED, whatever be tied,
GOD WILL
