I hope you guys have had a great spring break anybody do anything fun? Anybody go anywhere? This week are coming up on Easter, and you know growing up for me easter was always this big holiday right, does anyone still go out and grab an easter egg? How many people are doing an easter egg hunt this weekend? That’s great, but we all know what easter is really about right? The resurrection of Jesus. And with that yall, we have to look at the Gospel. When we look at the Gospel I believe that it is important to understand it. Because if we don’t understand it, how do we believe in, Jesus. So within that I just want to give today the gospel to you guys and then at the end we are going to talk about why it is important.
The Word Gospel means Good News, and with that there has to be some bad news. So lets look at the bad news first
Starting from the beginning, we have God, God is the creator of everything, and he created everything, and in Genesis 1:1 it says, in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Praise God, you step on top on top of mount nebo, you feel see God’s creation in that, you fly on a plane, you see God’s creation in that when you look outside, you go to the lake, when you go to the beach, and when you see the sunset and the sunrise. It is the same sun that God created when he first created the earth, when you see the moon, and the stars, its same moon that God created when he created the earth. In the first part of Genesis 1:31 it says God saw all that he made, and it was very good. And there was evening , and there was mourning - the sixth day. Colossions 1:16 says says For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether trones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
God in his goodness created man, In genesis 1:27 it says So god created man in his own image, we are created in the image of God
image of God he created him; male and female he created him. And God blessed them and gave them dominion over the fish and the birds and the sky and the earth.
But before God created women it says in Genesis 2:15–17 “The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.””
And then he took from Adam and created Eve.
Adama and are just living, and they have all this garden to tend to, all this fruit to eat. and he gives Adam one solid instruction.
But then we see temptation by the serpent. Genesis 3:1–4 “Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ” But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.”
and they ate of it. and this was happened Genesis 3:6–7 “So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.”
You see the way sin enters in humans,, This is sinful doing what we are not supposed to do is sin. and here is the first makes us dirty. And imagine someone playing in the dirt and not able to take a shower, not being able to be made clean, do you want that person in your house? Neither does God with our sin, our sin makes us dirty, and because of that how can we be made in good standing wtuih God
Isaiah 53:6 “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
Im not going to say we are separated by God from the sin we have, but we are separated from heaven if we live in that sin. without repentance.
God tried to give man an opprotunity through moses to be made clean to be held rightous through the ten commandments and that didnt work either, so God sent his son to be with us and to give us a chance to have eternal life, it says John 3:15–16 “that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
Jesus has authority, Jesus is God and man, and He died and rose again
Jesus lives this life and he has this authority to forgive us of sins Matthew 9:6–7 “But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he then said to the paralytic—“Rise, pick up your bed and go home.” And he rose and went home.”
and then in John 10:30 “I and the Father are one.””
Jesus’ Nature Philippians 2:6-8 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made inhuman likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!
His Resurrection 1 Corinthians 15:3-5 - For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve.
Through that we have Forgiveness
Forgiveness 1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
through that we have salvation
Saved for Sure Romans 10:9-10 - If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
Saved by Grace Ephesians 2:8-9 - For it is by grace you have been saved through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
And because of that we are expected to change
Citizens and Family Ephesians 2:19-20 - Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.
and we should live life.
Life with Love John 15:10 & 13 - “If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
Life with Focus Hebrews 12:1-2a - Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
