You are Mine
Olivia-
No Matter the Day
No matter what I have done —> I am Her’s
Us and the Lord
No matter who we are
No matter what we have done —> We are his…We can’t be separated
Romans 8:33–35 “33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?”
Nothing and no one can separate you from the Lord and His love for you…
But you don’t know what I have done…
I feel so separated or just disconnected…
The Fire that I once had for God has dwindled…
He desires that you know and Experience the fullness of His love!
Ephesians 3:17–19 “17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
V:17- Dwell in your hearts
To Remain with…
V:18-Comprehend the Love
To FULLLY Grasp the magnitude of His Love
V:19- know the love of Christ which passes knowledge
Its Mind blowing —-> or Unfathomable to fully comprehend its grandness
Its Just a Fact
Olivia- “I am Yours”
The Lord- “WE Are His”
NOTHING can separate us…WE are His…
Let’s Take tonight to Worship Him from the Perspective that We Are HIS….
If you are far or even just not in that sweet spot with him…take this time to draw near
If you say…I don’t know that I even actually know him, call out to him and He will show himself to you
Find someone in the back to pray with/connect with
He wants us close!
The Last Supper
John 13:1–17 (NKJV)
1 Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end. 2 And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him, 3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, 4 rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. 5 After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. 6 Then He came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him, “Lord, are You washing my feet?” 7 Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.” 8 Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.” 9 Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!” 10 Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.” 11 For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, “You are not all clean.” 12 So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? 13 You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. 16 Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
Love Sacrificially Serves
The Disciples were yet again arguing about Greatness (Luke 22:24)
Who will go down in History as the “Greatest Disciple”
Jesus heard their argument and used it to teach them a lesson on how Love Sacrificially Serves
(John 13:3) Jesus Knew that His Identity and Authority is Supreme Above All, As the Son of God
But He uses this object Lesson of “Washing Feet” to make a Profound and Pointed message about Love Sacrificially Serving
Profound
No master or person with Authority would ever was the feet of someone;
Everyone wears sandals, Feet are dusty and Dirty…
This was a job reserved for the lowest of servants…
He is saying it doesn't matter what position or power you have, Love Sacrificially Serves the Dirtiest, Darkest and most Depraved People…
Love Has no bounds
He as the Lord (Leader) & Teacher (V:14) Continues to love through service “Till the End”
Even to those that Deny Him and Betray Him…
Peter and Judas are in the room
His message was also Pointed
It pointed to the cleansing work that a relationship with the Lord does as our sins are washed away…
Cleansing Rituals were common for the Jewish people, to be cleansed from Sin
They have (Still to this day for Orthodox) a mikvah (Ceremonial Cleansing Pool) similar to a baptismal that is used to cleanse you
Jesus is saying, I am all you need to be cleansed
Consider His Profound and Pointed Message:
Be reminded:
That His Loving Sacrificial Service has no bounds…
There is no one that has gone too far or done too much to not receive His Love
Likewise He wants us to Love in the same manner…
John 13:15 “15 For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.”
Fortunately for me Juliana wont let me wash her feet :P
But for real…Consider, who is in your life that you can demonstrate love to by serving them?
Maybe its someone in your family, maybe even someone who has wronged you….
John 13:34–35 “34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.””
This isn’t something that He took lightly but said, this type of love will be the marker of a true Disciple…
Luke 22:39–46 (NKJV)
39 Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him. 40 When He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” 41 And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” 43 Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. 44 And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground. 45 When He rose up from prayer, and had come to His disciples, He found them sleeping from sorrow. 46 Then He said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation.”
Love Submits and Surrenders
(V:39)- Mount of Olives (Gathsemene)- Olive Press
When we are pressed and face obsticals and adversity, that is when the “Character” of who we really are comes out
When times are easy, it is much easier for the right response to come out
But what do we do when we face adversity
Only a TRULY Great team will play great after much opposition
Football Practice- Stance as a receiver
Track- Starting Position
You start to get sloppy
In and of ourselves we only rise to our lowest point…
Jesus, just like Adam and Eve Faced a choice and temptation in a Garden
But there responses were drastically different
Adam listened to the voices around him
In Love Jesus sought to submit and surrender to the will of the Father
Luke 22:43 “43 Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.”
He was strengthened as he sought the father
1 Corinthians 10:13- The Father won’t give you more than you can bear…
Because you aren’t supposed to be bearing it on your own…
Acts 1:8- You have a helper in the Holy Spirit
Matt 11:28-30- Come to me all who are weary and I will give you rest…take my yoke upon you
We have a choice like Adam and Jesus
Do we chose to love the Lord by submitting and surrendering our wills and wants
Adams Choice led to separation between God and Man
Jesus’ Choice led to the redemption of Man
Hebrews 12:2- For the Joy set before Him He endured the cross
YOU ARE HIS!
As we submit and surrender to Him in Love we experience His Best For US!
His Plan isn’t always easy but it brings Joy!
