“By this time it was about noon, and darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. The light from the sun was gone. And suddenly, the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn down the middle. Then Jesus shouted, “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!”
And with those words he breathed his last. When the Roman officer overseeing the execution saw what had happened, he worshiped God and said, “Surely this man was innocent.” And when all the crowd that came to see the crucifixion saw what had happened, they went home in deep sorrow. But Jesus’ friends, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance watching.
Now there was a good and righteous man named Joseph. He was a member of the Jewish high council, but he had not agreed with the decision and actions of the other religious leaders. He was from the town of Arimathea in Judea, and he was waiting for the Kingdom of God to come. He went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body.
Then he took the body down from the cross and wrapped it in a long sheet of linen cloth and laid it in a new tomb that had been carved out of rock. This was done late on Friday afternoon, the day of preparation, as the Sabbath was about to begin.
As his body was taken away, the women from Galilee followed and saw the tomb where his body was placed. Then they went home and prepared spices and ointments to anoint his body. But by the time they were finished the Sabbath had begun, so they rested as required by the law.”

Endgame Example Captain America Vs Everyone
Thanos sets off to erase half of the population with a snap of his fingers and succeeds in endgame the heros of earth get this second chance.
to bring everyone who was lost back to life
the heros round up everyone who is left
and up to this point everyone has fallen exept one man.
Capt has every reason to give up on this fight.
In the very next scene help arrives , back up arrives and helps save the day but in this moment he has every reason to give up
every reason to run away.
he choses to stand in the middle of battle that looks likes it over.
Transition: Have you ever been a situation where it felt like hope was gone. Like you’ve lost a game and there’s no way of winning.
In the Bible verse above Friday has happened
The man belived to be the messiah has been arrested and in less than 12 hours has been killed and is now buried
if we were his disciples back then today would have been anything but a Good Day
And normally since most of us knows how the story ends we press fast forward on the story and scream and celebrate that God raise jesus from the grave
i think a day that is just important is Saturday.
Saturday = Everything is different
Saturday is the day between the struggle and the promise
the question and the answer
destruction and delverence
How do we navigate the space in between our current circumstances and the promise that God had has for us
The day after your worse day
Saturdays can make you numb
In these spaces it sometimes feels that Gods seems distant or silent.
Sometime we can feel even when we follow his directions we still feel lost or like we’ve been dropped off.
Ex Athens and GPS
to many times when we are in these saturday seasons we:
Despair : Lose all hope, get depressed because we can no. longer see a way out of where we are currently
Deny: We act prentend like were are ok
Defer: Put it off, Trama and pain dosnt go away with time, it compounds
Often time we run away in these seasons instead of running to God
What i have found that in those saturday seasons we should
Be Still, Trust God, And Remember His Promise
ME
Ex Having Kids
Last week i shared that me and sasha are expecting baby girl in august , most dont know that this is litterly and answer to prayer that we have had for almost a decade.
people in their joking asking us when we are going have a kid not knowing we have been trying
crying out to God ive know that it was you that put this desire in my heart
should i even be sad becuase when i look aaround you have blessed every area of my life but this.
hearing words from the lord that God is about to increase my family and finanses
i dont know how long ypur saturday season has been
Main Idea : Just Because God is Silent Does Not Mean That He Is Absent
when he is quite it doesnt mean that he isnt present
when he is quite it dosnt mean that he dosnt care
when he is quite it dosnt mean that it dosnt break his heart
at it dosnt mean that he isnt working
i belive that God allows Saturday seasons in our lifes for 2 reason
They allow us to grow
James 1:2-3 2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, Trials and Temptations 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
We appriciate sundays seasons better when weve had saturdays seasons
God could do it in 15 minutes, but would you apprceiate it or see the value in it.
redeem the marrage but would really a
Transition: I want ask you this question: Where in your life have you concluded that God cannot meet you because presently you cannot see, feel or hear him?
GOD
What happened to the disciples between Friday and Sunday
the only context clues we have for saturday is sunday
they were afraid of the jewish leaders / if they killed jesus then they could kill them
What was these 3 years of our lives for?
some of them went back to what they did before
They had given up everything to follow him
they were weathly tax collectors to fishers with whole businesses
You ever know that God is faithfual and able but you cant undersatnd it
YOU
When trying to figure out how to navigate saturdays i think the best example is jesus
Be Still
Psalm 37:7-9 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil. For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land.
Romans 8:25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
being patient will require us to wait on the lord and be faithful with what he is calling you to do in the moment
what are the areas of your life where instead of running around and trying to do something new, you need to be still and just do the last thing he told you to do:
that might mean being a better father, daughter, friend, write the book, start the program
Jesus was dead ,but the sabbath is called the day of rest so many times did jesus tell the parents of the dead that the person was merly sleeping.
one of hardest things the striggle with is rest and sabbathing, i heard someone say that resting takes faith . because you are trust God to take care or hold evereyhting else together while you rest.
are there areas in you like that you need to rest in the lords promise.
Trust God
Jesus Waits and his trust his father
Proverbs 3:5: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
Psalm 9:10: And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.
Romans 8:28: And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
In your hands i command my spirit
Jesus chooses to follow the plan of his father , he chose to belive that this was the way things have to go
Remember His Promise
Psalms 16:10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
God is Faithful
the more saturdays you have the more proof you have that God will come through
Saturdays we need friends
WE
