Title: The Dawn of Hope: A Reflection on the Resurrection
Good morning, beloved friends. As the sun rises on this beautiful morning, let us journey together through the depths of scripture, meditating on the profound significance of the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. There are of three truths about the resurrection I want us to consider this morning.

1. A PROMISED FULFILLED

In the Gospel of Matthew, we encounter the faithful women who went to the tomb early on the first day of the week. Their hearts heavy with grief, they were met by an angel who proclaimed,
Matthew 28:6 (NKJV)
He is not here; for He is risen, as He said.
In those words lies the essence of our faith—the promise fulfilled, the victory won, and the hope restored.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is not merely a historical event but the cornerstone of our faith, the very foundation upon which we stand.
Jesus said He would lay His life down only to take it up again.
Matthew 16:21 NKJV
From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.
Matthew 12:39–40 NKJV
But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
The second truth about the resurrection is

2. VICTORY OVER DEATH

Through His resurrection, death has been defeated, and the power of sin has been overcome.
In the words of the apostle Paul,
1 Corinthians 15:55 NKJV
“O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?”
Let us pause here for a moment and reflect on the magnitude of these words. In a world plagued by suffering and uncertainty, the resurrection stands as a beacon of hope—a testament to the boundless love and mercy of our God.
It is a reminder that even in our darkest moments, we are not alone, for Christ has conquered death itself.
Hosea 13:14 (NKJV)
“I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death. O Death, I will be your plagues! O Grave, I will be your destruction!
But what does the resurrection mean for us, here and now, in our everyday lives?
The third truth about the resurrection has to do with a gift.

3. THE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE

In the Gospel of John, Jesus declares,
John 11:25–26 NKJV
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
These words offer us comfort and assurance, reminding us that through faith in Christ, we have the gift of eternal life.
John 5:21 NKJV
For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will.
John 6:39 NKJV
This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day.
John 6:40 NKJV
And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
John 6:44 NKJV
No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.
As we gather at this sunrise service, let us remember the transformative power of the resurrection. It is a symbol of new beginnings, of light triumphing over darkness, and of hope conquering despair. Just as the dawn breaks forth after the darkest night, so too does the resurrection of Christ bring forth the promise of eternal life for all who believe in Him.
Conclusion
In our own lives, we may face trials and tribulations, but let us take heart in the words of the apostle Paul, who wrote,
Philippians 3:10–11 NKJV
that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
As we journey with Christ, may we embrace both the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, knowing that in Him, we find true victory and eternal life.
Let us rejoice in the victory that has been won for us and live our lives in the light of His love.
May the resurrection of Jesus Christ fill our hearts with joy, our spirits with hope, and our lives with purpose.
As we go forth from this place, may we carry the message of the resurrection with us, sharing the hope and love of Christ with all whom we encounter.
Let us pray.
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ, and the victory won for us through His resurrection. May we live each day in the light of His love, sharing the hope of the resurrection with all whom we meet. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
