Jesus is the Kingdom

Jesus showed us his kingdom
John 12:46 NIV
I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.
* Jesus is the kingdom of God
Revelation 11:15 NIV
The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever.”
it is an everlasting kingdom
it is not of this world
John 18:36 NIV
Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”
we must know that this kingdom is spiritual - it is in heaven
Jesus died and rose on what is now Easter Sunday
Jesus made a way for us to enter the Kingdom
Romans 5:1–2 NIV
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.
this kingdom is built on grace

The Culture of this kingdom

Lord Most High sits on a throne
the throne represents the kingdom - a symbol of exactly what the kingdom is
the throne is grace
Kingdom culture is grace, mercy and love
Hebrews 4:16 NIV
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

We are Foreigners in this World

we do not belong to this world
we have been brought with the price of Jesus’ blood
Ephesians 2:12–13 NIV
remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
we were not citizens of heaven - we were foreigners
yet the promise has been restored
not just citizens but children of God
we are sons and daughters
Ephesians 2:19–20 NIV
Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.

Love not the World

we can no longer be conform by the world

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.
we live by grace and faith and love

Kingdom Culture

when we change our citizenship we give up the old

we have a different passport
our thinking must be of the Kingdom

We Belong to the Kingdom

a new allegiance by which we live b
the Kingdom culture is shown by Jesus
what he said and what he did
the Holy Spirit teaches us, the scriptures instructs
the Kingdom culture is above all man’s cultures

Kingdom of Jesus

Jesus is head over all
Colossians 2:10 NIV
and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.
he is head over every culture of man
our traditions and practices must conform to the Kingdom
this is difficult but essential
Colossians 2:8 NIV
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.

Practices of Kingdom Culture

Romans 12 verses 9 to 21 is a good starting point
love must be directed towards others not self
we do every good work
we speak the words of grace

Language of grace

it is creative - it produces good, godly things
it praises Jesus
it encourages rarely rebukes
it blesses and does not curse
it reflects the nature of Jesus
Philippians 4:8 NIV
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
