King James Version (Numbers 17:1-11)
17 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man’s name upon his rod. 3 And thou shalt write Aaron’s name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod shall be for the head of the house of their fathers. 4 And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you. 5 And it shall come to pass, that the man’s rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you. 6 And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers’ houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods. 7 And Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of witness. 8 And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds. 9 And Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod. 10 And the LORD said unto Moses, Bring Aaron’s rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not. 11 And Moses did so: as the LORD commanded him, so did he.

1. There was a massive debate going on which caused an uprising, a rebellion!

Now Korah the son of Izhar, son of Kohath, son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, and On the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men. 2 And they rose up before Moses, with a number of the people of Israel, 250 chiefs of the congregation, chosen from the assembly, well-known men. 3 They assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron and said to them, “You have gone too far! For all in the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the LORD?” 4 When Moses heard it, he fell on his face, 5 and he said to Korah and all his company, “In the morning the LORD will show who is his, and who is holy, and will bring him near to him. The one whom he chooses he will bring near to him.

There was a mjor rebellion and a big despute!
Is this any different today?

2. There is a massive debate going on today that in many places has and continues to cause an uprising and even rebellion!

Fighting and disputes.
It is sowed in unbelief of what God has truly said and who God has truly appointed, or in other words anointed!
But I mean how can one truly know right when there are so many views?
Islam
Hinduism
Buddhism
Atheism
Sikhism
Taoism
Mormonism
Bahai Faith
Unification movement
False Christs
Loads more religions - which has loads of so-called prophets and even messiahs
They all fight over which is right!
Christianity - a religion? Or a relationship?
Either way how can one truly know the way to heaven there are many different ways they say.
Many ways to God how do you know? This is nothing new. Moses and Aaron and the Israelites faced this way back then! But I thank God that God did not leave them in the dark! He steeped in and done something to show them the truth!

3. Almighty God, the One who sits on the throne of heaven, used a specific example and performed a great miracle with the purpose of settling the debate and calming the uprising for good!

He done this by first giving them instruction!
This is what you are going to do and by doing it it is going to settle this question once and for all!
King James Version (Numbers 17:1-7)
King James Version (Numbers 17:8-9)
And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds. 9 And Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.
King James Version (Numbers 17:10-11)
And the LORD said unto Moses, Bring Aaron’s rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not. 11 And Moses did so: as the LORD commanded him, so did he.

4. Almighty God has already settled the debate using the same sign that was used in Moses’ day with the children of Israel!

“…you shall put into the ark the testimony that I shall give you.”
Will pastor I dont see Him! The generation back then did. The next geenration could have easily started to second guess whether He was appointed by God or not but God had already proven it back there.
The Jews seek after a sign but no sign shall be given other than the sign of Jonah. He was in belly of the whale 3 days.
Generations have gone and come since Jesus died and rose again but just because you dont see Him literally in body does not mean that He is not alive.
For one there is coming a time when everyone will see Him.
Secondly, look at what Moses was told to go and do.
King James Version (Numbers 17:10-11)
10 And the LORD said unto Moses, Bring Aaron’s rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not. 11 And Moses did so: as the LORD commanded him, so did he.
King James Version (1 Corinthians 15:1-8)
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. 8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.
King James Version (Matthew 12:38-40)
Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. 39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
