Why do we celebrate Easter? Is this holiday something that is just about candy , eggs and some random bunny? or is this time something that is deeper something to a lot of people is one of the most important days of the year. We have started to learn about Jesus Christ and the life he lived but the most important event in all creation is celebrated on Easter. What is this event?
Death of Christ
Death of Christ
in Luke 23:44-49 we see that Christ dies on the cross. *emphasize the torture and pain he went through* This death is significant for it dead three things it brought in our lives
The first thing it did was Pay for our sins
Just as if we commit a crime a price or fee needs to be paid Jesus Christ paid the price for our sins
The second thing it did was take back the keys of death
When Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil they also gave authority of the earth over to satan. Christ on the three days before his Resurrection went to hell to get this authority back
The Third thing it did was restore our nature.
We no longer need to sin. We have this in our nature the ability to sin but Christ gives us a new nature were we no longer have to do this our server that master but instead can serve him and live a sin free life.
Resurrection
Resurrection
Building Block of our Faith
Building Block of our Faith
in Luke 24: 1-10 After the death of Christ comes something that is so very important to Christianity something that without it happening the faith falls apart. That without this part it voids the life if Christ as the messiah and makes him just a meager man. Does anyone know what this is?---- That’s right it is the Resurrection.
Importance of this event
Importance of this event
Why is the Resurrection so important why does this make it the building block of our faith? Why does Christianity fall apart without Christ coming back to life after three days? Because this proves that everything Jesus said was true. There is only one being that can give life and that is is God he is the author of life and the one that made it and gives it. Without the Resurrection there is no Jesus the Messiah it is only by him coming back from the dead do we know beyond a reason of a shadow of doubt that this is the son of God.
There is no other religion that has a man actually come back from the dead and appear to many many people. This event is what set the Apostles ablaze for him’
Apostles Seeing Jesus
Apostles Seeing Jesus
Before the apostles saw Christ they were cowering in a room waiting for something to happen hopping that they would not be arrested and also killed. But when they found the tomb empty and saw him personally they were ablaze for Christ and began their selfless journey to tell the world of all he had done and the new gift of God.
Salvation
Salvation
Christ died on the cross for our sins, so we can be right with God. Let me ask you a simple question have you ever broken one of the ten commandments?
You shall have no other gods before[a] me.
4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
7 “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
8 “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
13 “You shall not murder.
14 “You shall not commit adultery.
15 “You shall not steal.
16 “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”
