The Beginning of Christianity

31 March 2024
Prophet Eric Khorombi
Introduction
The pain of loosing loved one. Only discovering purpose, realising the reason it happened can help us.
I remember when i lost my Mom in April 2016 and only three years later to loose my Father in September 2019.
I can only imagine the pain Peter and other disciples felt when Jesus was crucified.
Jesus wept at Lazarus death, what ore sorrow when he realized he is leaving the disciples behind.
The Way
Christianity started with Jesus Christ death and Resurrection
In the beginning those who followed Christ were called disciples, then as a group the church and as a sect called the Way (Acts 9:2)
A. No one comes to the father except through Jesus
John 14:6 ESV
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
B. No one comes to Jesus unless the father draws him
John 6:44–47 ESV
44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me— 46 not that anyone has seen the Father except he who is from God; he has seen the Father. 47 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life.
C. Jesus Himself converted many to be disciples.
John 4:1 ESV
1 Now when Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John
D. Jesus sends us to Make disciples of all nations
Matthew 28:19 ESV
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Reconciliation
That is oneness with the father and the son
John 10:30 ESV
30 I and the Father are one.”
D. As the father sent me so send I you.
John 20:21 ESV
21 Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”
D1. Evidence that one is sent by the Lord
They make disciples of others by preaching concerning Jesus - Matthew 28:19 “19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”
The works he does bears witness of him. - John 5:36 “36 But the testimony that I have is greater than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, bear witness about me that the Father has sent me.”
John 8:18 “18 I am the one who bears witness about myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness about me.”” - He has the witness from the father
John 6:57 “57 As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me.” - He lives on by divine strength from the Lord
John 12:49 “49 For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment—what to say and what to speak.” & John 14:24 “24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me.” - He speak under authority, that is what he hears from the Lord
John 17:21 “21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” - He is in Christ doing the works
John 8:42 “42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me.” - He is hated by the world
John 8:16 “16 Yet even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me.” - He judges things according to the fathers judgement (ie. opinions)
They bear fruits that pleases God - John 15:16 “16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.” John 15:19“19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” John 12:24 “24 Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” John 15:5 “5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:8 “8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.”
John 13:20 “20 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.””
The resurrection and Life
John 11:25 ESV
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,

Matthew 27:52 ESV
52 The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised,
The helper has come
John 16:7–14 ESV
7 Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. 8 And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; 10 concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; 11 concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. 12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
Partakers on the New Covenant that brings eternal Life
2 Corinthians 3:5–6 ESV
5 Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God, 6 who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
Hebrews 9:15 ESV
15 Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.
According to the new covenant:
Our sins are forgiven forever
reconciled

All will be taught by God
