Major Ideas

They have persecuted us, but they have not prevailed because the Lord has delivered us (vv. 1-4).
Psalm 129:1–4 NASB95
1 “Many times they have persecuted me from my youth up,” Let Israel now say, 2 “Many times they have persecuted me from my youth up; Yet they have not prevailed against me. 3 “The plowers plowed upon my back; They lengthened their furrows.” 4 The Lord is righteous; He has cut in two the cords of the wicked.
There is such sadness in the pilgrim as he remembers the repeated persecutions Israel has faced as a nation since its inception, since its earliest days.
Antisemitism has been and is still real. Persecution of God’s people has been and is still real.
Jews are still attacked for being Jewish, and our brothers and sisters in Christ are still persecuted to the death all around the world.
This may be especially difficult for us to feel because we are not Jewish and we are not persecuted, but even we should be made to feel it, we would not be destroyed.
Crushed but defeated, struck down but not destroyed.
The gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
May those who hate God’s people be defeated, useless, ignored, and unblessed (vv. 5-8).
I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you.

Be a part of His people!
