Text: Jeremiah 1:4-7

Jeremiah 1:4–7 (NKJV)

Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” Then said I: “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.” But the Lord said to me: “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak.

We’ve been talking about iMatter for the last few days

and I don’t want to detour from what we’ve been talking about

I really just want to do a bit more preaching on the matter.

Before I preach tonight I just want to give some ground-rules

God loves you and he cares for you and some of you…

I want to start off by saying….

This “I” in imatter that my brother so came up with…is for everyone sitting in this room…..

It’s a collective representation of all of those who may feel like they aren’t ready for what God has for them….

I matter is for the student struggling to find their purpose and walk out the plan that God has for them,

I matter is for the Student, hoping and praying to be understood and heard.

I matter is for the Youth Leaders who’s ideas often go unnoticed,

I matter is for the youth pastor struggling and straining trying to make sure the youth has and keeps a place in your church….

I matter is for the Youth Community at large that some may think is dying off but we are actually surviving and thriving.

I matter is for everybody…..

The babies matter

The middle schoolers matter

The high schoolers matter

The college students matter

The youth workers matter

The youth leaders matter

The youth at large matters….

Because we are the future of the church….We matter

We have something to say

God has a plan for our life

But it’s on us, to trust the plan that God has and believe his word.

and its in this text in Jeremiah where we really learn that WE MATTER…

This moment:

All of that which Jeremiah has done in his life and his ministry was what came as a result of this moment.

All of us know Jeremiah the one who stated: Jeremiah 29:11

Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV 1900)

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

We know the Jeremiah who wrote in lamentations: It is through the Lord’s Mercies were are not consumed, because his compassions fail not, they are new every morning, Great is thy faithfulness

We know Jeremiah, The major prophet, the one who had a lot to say for and to the People of God.

But before that Jeremiah was that Jeremiah,

he was a young man,

Questioning his calling,

Questioning what the will of God was for his life.

Questioning if he matters.

This is the Jeremiah I Want to deal with tonight because I believe that it’s a few people in here,

Questioning their call on their life.

This Jeremiah, is here at this moment, speakin with the Father, about his calling.

and It is here where we will learn why we matter.

look at whaT THE WORD SAYS,

Jeremiah 1:4–7 (KJV 1900)

Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.

I’m gonna give you 3 reason why you matter and we gone go home.

I know that I matter

Because God Called me

Jeremiah 1:4–5 (KJV 1900)

So I want to talk about 2 things.

The

How and the What…..

Lets deal with the How,

How God Called Jeremiah.

the bible says in Chapter 1:4, that “The Word of the Lord came to me”

or The Lord Spoke to me saying……

So the God of the universe,

The one who created me,

The one who gave me breath in my body,

is the one who speaks to me…

He doesn’t send me to his assistant,

He dont talk a long time to get back

no he talks to me

You matter, because God loves you enough and cares about you enough to talk to you

and the truth of the matter is,

GOD IS THE MAIN VOICE THAT SHOULD SHOW YOU THAT YOU MATTER

GOD’S VOICE IS THE VOICE THAT MATTERS

NOT THE VOICE OF THAT TEACHER THAT DON’T UNDERSTAND YOU

NOT THE VOICE OF THAT PERSON WHO DOES NOT BELIEVE IN YOU

NOT THE VOICE OF THAT LIL BOY THAT DIDN’T SPEAK AT THE ALL WHITE PARTY

NOT THE VOICE OF THAT GIRL THAT DIDN’T GIVE YOU HER NUMBER

NOT THE VOICE OF TICK TOK

NOT THE VOICE OF INSTAGRAM

NOT THE VOICE OF YOUTUBE

NOT THE VOICE OF TWITCH

NOT THE VOICE OF KAI CENAT

NOT THE VOICE OF DRUSKI…..

NO GOD’S VOICE IS THE VOICE THAT MATTERS AND THAT VOICE THAT MATTERS IS WHAT SHOWS YOU THAT YOU MATTER.

BUT THEN THERES THE

2. HOW

THE BIBLE SAYS,

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee

Check this,

God Says to Jeremiah, before you were formed, you were known and before you came out of your mother’s womb, you were set apart…by him.…..

He says,

I knew you before you were YOU…..

and there was purpose on your life before there was life…

So you didn’t come into this world for no reason….

But I did this with purpose….

Before you knew you were you

I knew you before you thought you had rizz....

I knew you before the issues of life tried to shape you

I knew you before your parents knew you….

and he says I BUILT YOU TO BE DIFFERENT….and I gave you purpose…

SO WHAT YOU THINK THAT IS WRONG WITH YOU, IS WHAT I PUT IN YOU, SO THAT YOU CAN BE WHO I CALLED YOU TO BE….

THAT THING ABOUT YOU THAT’S DIFFERENT ABOUT EVERYONE ELSE IS NOT A MISTAKE…GOD DID THAT ON PURPOSE..

THE WAY YOU TALK….GOD DID

THE WAY YOU WALK…GOD DID

THE WAY YOU DRESS….GOD DID

THE WAY YOU READ…GOD DID

THE WAY YOU SING….GOD DID

THE WAY YOU ACT….GOD DID

AS SMART AS YOU ARE….GOD DID

COME ON LEADERS…..GOD MADE YOU TO TAKE YOUR JOB TOO SERIOUS....

GOD MADE YOU WITH THAT SO YOU CAN IMPACT THE YOUTH….

JUST LOOK AT SOMEBODY AND PUT YOUR CHURCH VOICE ON AND SAY GOD DID.

THE WAY YOU LOVE….IS NOT A CRUTCH,,,IT’S A CHEAT CODE.

SOMEBODY SAY I’M BUILT DIFFERENT.

GOD TOOK HIS TIME WITH YOU….

GOD CALLED YOU…

BUT ALSO,

2. Because GOD QUALIFIED YOU

THIS IS WHAT THE WORD SAYS......

Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee,

How many of us can be honest and say..We’ve heard God, but we get in our own head…..

You see Jeremiah thought that Age was a qualification to be called by God…… Which made him lose confidence in himself

But God said DON’T SAY THAT…

IN OTHER WORDS….DON’T EVEN SPEAK THAT OVER YOUR LIFE…

JEREMIAH SAID, I CAN’T BECAUSE…

BUT GOD SAID…NO YOU CAN AND YOU WILL….

CHECK THIS….

GOD DOESN’T CALL THOSE WHO ARE QUALIFIED…

GOD QUALIFIES THOSE THAT HE CALLS…..

THAT’S WHAT THE GRACE OF GOD IS…

HIM GIVING YOU SOMETHING THAT YOU DO NOT DESERVE…

HIM DOING SOMETHING FOR YOU THAT YOU COULD NOT DO FOR YOURSELF….

YOU MATTER BECAUSE YOUR QUALIFICATIONS CAME FROM GOD….

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS DID NOT COME FROM GRADES,

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS DID NOT COME FROM YOUR TEACHERS,

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS DID NOT COME FROM A DEGREES LEADERS

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS DID NOT COME FROM ORDINATIONS AND LICENSING SERVICES… ALL OF THAT STUFF IS GREAT BUT BE UNDER NO IILLUSTION ,

GOD ALREADY QUALIFIED ME….

WHEN YOU KNOW THAT GOD QUALIFIED YOU, THEN THERE IS NO ONE THAT CAN TALK YOU DOWN, INCLUDING YOU.....

YOU SEE YOU MATTER BECAUSE GOD GAVE YOU THE QUALIFICATIONS BEFORE HE GAVE YOU THE POSITIONS….

DON’T LET THE WORLD’S VIEWS OF YOU MATTERING

CAUSE YOU NOT TO SEE GOD’S VIEWS OF YOU MATTERING.

GOD CALLED ME

GOD QUALIFIED ME BUT LASTLY

So if your qualifications come from God….

then Your Confidence should come from God

3. Because GOD BACKED ME

Somebody say God backed me….

But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.

When Jeremiah says he can’t do it….

God pretty much says, you can and you will,

It’s a must….

YOu can’t NOT do it…

But he also says, I’M right here…..

So that if anyone has a problem with what you are doing, they MUST come through me….

Look…if no one else believes,,

God believes in you….

He believed in you enough to call you

He believed in you enough to qualify you

but then he believed in you enough to back you….

He believed in you enough to put his hand on you…

and because he’s backing you….He’s speaking to you and he’s got your back……………
