FEAR CLEAR COMMAND Deuteronomy 31:6-8 • V. 6 – “Do not fear!” • Vv. 7-8 – “Be strong and of good courage…do not fear nor be afraid.” OBVIOUS OBSTACLE You are human. You struggle with fear. SIMPLE SOLUTION Deuteronomy 31:6-8 • V. 6 – “For the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” • V. 8 - “And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you nor forsake you…” But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” So, He said, “I will certainly be with you.” Exodus 3:10-12 And the Lord appeared to him the same night and said, “I am the God of Abraham your father. Fear not, for I am with you and will bless you and multiply your offspring for my servant Abraham's sake.” Genesis 26:24 You shall not fear them, for it is the Lord your God who fights for you. Deuteronomy 3:22 “When you go out to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army larger than your own, you shall not be afraid of them, for the Lord your God is with you, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.” Deuteronomy 20:1 Then David said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the Lord God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished. 1 Chronicles 28:20 Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem.’ Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, and the Lord will be with you. 2 Chronicles 20:17 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling…The Lord of hosts is with us… Psalm 46:1-3, 7 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? The Lord is on my side as my helper; I shall look in triumph on those who hate me. Psalm 118:6-7 Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 According to the covenant that I made with you when you came out of Egypt. My Spirit remains in your midst. Fear not. Haggai 2:5 So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” Hebrews 13:6 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 WITH GOD WITHOUT FEAR APPLICATION • If you are saved, recognize that God is with you and there is nothing you can do to change that. (Matt. 28:20; Rom. 8:38-39) • If you are not saved, recognize that there is no solution to your fear until you believe in Jesus. • Go to church! (Matt. 18:20) APPLICATION • Before you are afraid: • Pick a verse about the nearness of God from our list of verses and memorize it. • Pick a verse about God’s character and memorize it. • When you are afraid: • Replace fear-driven thoughts with faith driven thoughts. • Meditate on the nearness of God by filling your mind with truth. WITH GOD WITHOUT FEAR
