IDENITY SERIES
As I have grown in my relationship with Jesus I have come to the realization the the biggest change is a change of identity. See when I give myself to the Lord what I'm doing the sign and away the right to not only what Jonathan Glover wants to do but who Jonathan Glover is as a person because who I am before Christ is not who I am once I am in Christ. Until you understand that giving your life that being saved is giving your life you will never understand your role as a Christian you will never understand your identity or who you are as a Christian. God is amazing. He didn't just free me from the bondage of sin he gave me his identity.
He took away my identity to give me His and He took away my story to give me His. My story is only a testimony and it's only powerful when it becomes about Jesus and when I add Jesus and his power and His majesty and His identity to my story its then and only then that it starts bringing hope to others when His transformation is added that it brings hope and his transformation only comes because someone is sold out to Jesus laying down their identity to step in to Christ identity. Our Identity is in Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17 CSB
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!
As created human beings we are to worship our creator and to put our identity aside and take on Christ Identity and what we're seeing in our world right now is a me centered identity which doesn't work and continually looking inward for who we are creates confusion which leads to trying to fix ourselves apart from God which is impossible so we then start placing all these labels or identities on ourselves because we apart from God don't know who in the world we are! As I've been studying for this series I've come to the conclusion that my time spent in addiction and gangs was at its core a identity crisis. God called me to preach at 15 but I rejected that call which ultimately led me to rejecting my identity in Christ all together which led to me taking on false identities because as a Christian any identity outside of Christ is a false identity. As time went on I was on drugs and living a whole lifestyle that I was never meant to live which made me feel horrible, it left that empty feeling inside me which fueled the depression and confusion and sadness and it wasn't until I realigned myself with my identity in Christ that I experienced freedom from all that junk and at the root of it all was a rejection of who I am in Christ and the same goes for us all. We'll never be happy and satisfied and fulfilled until we're yoked to Jesus and He is my identity.
Our country and young people are in a identity crisis! If you do a google search asking how many genders there are it says Besides male and female, there are 72 other genders, which include Cisgender, Male, Female, Transgender, Gender neutral, Pangender, Genderqueer, Two-spirit, Third gender. I wanna stop here because within these false genders or telltale signs of who's behind all this and it's not good.
8 For he had told him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!”
9 “What is your name?” he asked him.
“My name is Legion,” he answered him, “because we are many.”[1]Mark 5:8-9
Mark 5:8–9 CSB
For he had told him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” “What is your name?” he asked him. “My name is Legion,” he answered him, “because we are many.”
A legion is 3000 to 6000 soldiers so this one person had 3000 to 6000 demons in them and so the point I'm making is we got these two spirit genders and 3rd gender and transgender and gender neutral and all these different things and we're seeing that some of them are straight up identifying as having more than one spirit and I believe this tells a story that we need as Christians to pay attention to let's look add another time in the Bible where Jesus cast out demons period
28 When he had come to the other side, to the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men met him as they came out of the tombs. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. 29 Suddenly they shouted, “What do you have to do with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?”
30 A long way off from them, a large herd of pigs was feeding. 31 “If you drive us out,” the demons begged him, “send us into the herd of pigs.”
32 “Go!” he told them. So when they had come out, they entered the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and perished in the water[2] Matthew 8:28-32
Matthew 8:28–32 CSB
When he had come to the other side, to the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men met him as they came out of the tombs. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. Suddenly they shouted, “What do you have to do with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?” A long way off from them, a large herd of pigs was feeding. “If you drive us out,” the demons begged him, “send us into the herd of pigs.” “Go!” he told them. So when they had come out, they entered the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and perished in the water.
So here it tells us that two men who were possessed came out of the tombs and the demons knew Jesus because they knew God and they knew the son of God and what we see here is when Jesus cast the demons out of these two men that there was enough demons in these two men to fill an entire herd of pigs and run them off the side of a mountain into the water. So here is another example of what any spirit living inside of someone other than the Holy Spirit is demonic. But these demons aren't just showing up in these false genders they're showing up in these new identities that people are taking on with the pronouns. Some people identify as they them well right here the scripture is showing us that any spirit inside of you other than the Holy Spirit is a demonic spirit and so just the very fact that they're identifying as they them shows the Satan is behind all of this mess. There's different ways to know how important certain things are in our relationship with God a d of course one is the Word of God but also things we see the enemy fighting against and we're seeing the enemy fighting our identity big time
When Satan does something it's always to mimic God in an evil way so God gives us his identity allowing us to have identity in Christ and what does Satan do he tries to strip people of their identities and then give them the identity he wants them to have which is nothing but confusion sadness depression pain all of those things let's take a look what just took place this past Easter yes last Sunday.
On March 29th of 2024 President Joe Biden declared that March 31st of 2024 is to be known as transgender day of visibility. Yes the very same day that Christians are celebrating the world's resurrected savior, the same day that we identify with the new covenant which solidifies us with our new identity in Christ as overcomers and all the things that go along with that. Satan is always mimicking God and so what satan does is tries to strip us from our identity in Christ and replace it with a broken, lost, depraved identity. If you look at the declaration it says your loved, heard, understood, belong and you are America . Once satan strips away our identity he then begins to replace it and he does that with lies and half truths and affirmation for other depraved people. This series is about our identity as Christian people but I want to make it clear that our country and world is in a identity crisis and the only fix is Jesus and the only wave 4 people who don't know Jesus to meet Jesus is for the people who claim to know Jesus to set their identity aside and step into their identity in Christ and no the power and the authority that that identity comes with and the importance of us walking in that identity is made known about what Satan is doing with the identity of people who don't know Jesus. If the people who know Jesus don't understand their identity in Jesus we can't represent Jesus. Only the church operating under Christ's Kingdom Idenity can give the world a picture of what life under God's Kingdom Identity looks like the church is us. The people, so we have to operate under christ headship and authority in Christ identity. And that's the only way that the world will see what living for the Lord looks like. It's our identity in Christ that allows us to have the power that Christ gives us to live out what the churches supposed to look like. Identity is defined as “the fact of being who or what a person or thing is. So we see right here the our identity is who we are from that simple definition. So in order for us to be able to understand who we are in Christ we have to understand what Christ paid for on the cross. Until we understand what he paid for on the cross we can't understand the identity that he paid for us to walk in. This series it's probably gonna go for the next four to six months and maybe longer because of the depth that the Lord has really taken me on this and that's awesome that's what Wednesday night is for and I'm really excited to dive into this. I had to lay the groundwork with what we talked about tonight to show you how crucial our identity is and how crucial it is when we don't know our identity. So let's take a look that what Christ paid for on the cross.
John 12:31, 14:30, 16:11:

Jesus defeats Satan, the ruler of this world.

John 10:11:

Jesus lays his life down for us.

John 15:13:

Jesus demonstrates the greatest act of love.

Isaiah 53:

Christ came to redeem you from suffering and sin forever by sacrificing himself as your substitute on the cross.

2 Corinthians 5:21:

He made him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in him.

1 Peter 2:24:

He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness.

1 Corinthians 1:30:

He is our "justification, sanctification, and redemption".

1 Peter 1:19:

This redemption (or buying of freedom) is ours by virtue of the "precious blood" of Jesus Christ shed on the cross

Romans 5:10-11: “For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.”
There are three things we had to be released from: the curse of the law, the guilt of sin, and the power of sin. Christ redeemed us from each of these.
