Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.
1. “Let us not therefore judge one another”
Context: Disputations over the Law
Dietary
Sabbath Day (v.5-6)
We all give account for ourselves (Romans 14:10)
“But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.”
2. The Affects we have on one Another (vs. 13-15)
a. We can cause one another to “Stumble” (Rom. 14:13)
(Rom 14:13) Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.
i.”Stumblingblock” - Obstacle, snare, trap placed in front of someone
ii. We are not to be criticizing and judging one another.
a. We are to be judging ourselves
But let a man examine himself (I Cor. 11:28)
b. We can cause one another to “Grieve” (vs.15)
(Rom 14:15) But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.
i. “Grieved” - Saddened, Sorrowful, Depressed
c. We can “Destroy” One Another (vs. 15)
i. “Destroy” - Perish, die (I Cor. 8:10-11)
