We believe that there are two divinely appointed offices in a church, pastors and deacons, to be filled by men whose qualifications are set forth in Titus and 1 Timothy.

Bishop 1 Timothy 3:1-7

Qualifications:

Blameless
Husband of one wife
Self-controlled
Sensible
Respectable
Hospitable
Able to teach
Not an excessive drinker
Not a bully but gentle
Not quarrelsome
Not greedy
Manage household competently
Children under control and with dignity
Must not be a new convert
Good reputation with outsiders

Responsible for Preaching/Teaching 2 Timothy 4:2-3

A pastor should be ready at any time to preach the word in any way that is needed, even when people begin to turn away from sound doctrine for whatever satisfies the itch in their ear.

Provide Spiritual Leadership 1 Peter 5:1-4

A pastor is called to shepherd and guide God’s children. Not because they have to, but because they want to. They are called to be examples to God’s flock.

Deacons 1 Timothy 3:8-10, 12

Qualifications:

Worthy of respect
Not hypocritical
Not drinking a lot of wine
Not greedy for money
Holding the mystery of faith with a clear conscience.
Must be tested first and be found blameless
Husband of one wife
Manage their children and households competently
