God the Son

Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, taking upon Himself human nature with its demands and necessities and identifying Himself completely with mankind yet without sin. He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His substitutionary death on the cross He made provision for the redemption of men from sin. He was raised from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to His disciples as the person who was with them before His crucifixion. He ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator, fully God, fully man, in whose Person is effected the reconciliation between God and man. He will return in power and glory to judge the world and to consummate His redemptive mission. He now dwells in all believers as the living and ever present Lord.

Memory Verse

Romans 5:8 CSB
But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Christ the Eternal Son of God

That Jesus is the eternal son of God is the single Fundamental truth upon which all other truth is grounded.
This is so fundamentally important that Satan attacks this truth at every level, most notably through the teachings of Islam. On the Dome of the Rock there is writing. The Dome of the Rock sits literally on the place where the Temple of God stood. Where God commanded His temple be built. And written on that blasphemous building: God has no son.
On the octagon that is the building on the South side it reads:
S In the name of God, the Merciful the Compassionate. There is no god but God. He is One. He has no associate. Unto Him belongeth sovereignity and unto Him belongeth praise. He quickeneth and He giveth death; and He has Power over all things. Muhammad is the servant of God and His Messenger.
On the East side it reads:
E nor utter aught concerning God save the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a Messenger of God, and His Word which He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in God and His messengers, and say not ‘Three’ – Cease!
Continuing around:
(it is)
NE better for you! – God is only One God. Far be it removed from His transcendent majesty that He should have a son. His is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And God is sufficient as Defender. The Messiah will never scorn to be a
N servant unto God, nor will the favoured angels. Whoso scorneth His service and is proud, all such will He assemble unto Him. Oh God, bless Your Messenger and Your servant Jesus
NW son of Mary. Peace be on him the day he was born, and the day he dies, and the day he shall be raised alive! Such was Jesus, son of Mary, (this is) a statement of the truth concerning which they doubt. It befitteth not (the Majesty of) God that He should take unto Himself a son. Glory be to Him!
So it is very important that we understand that God speaks from Cover to Cover regarding His Son Jesus, the Christ. There is no harmony between Christ and Islam.
Jesus is the Center os Scriptures! Everything in the Old Testament points forward to Him; everything in the NT proceeds from Him.
John Broadus.
Jesus existed with the Father before the Foundation of the World.
John 17:5 CSB
Now, Father, glorify me in your presence with that glory I had with you before the world existed.
And it was through Jesus, the WORD, that ALL that was created, was created.
Genesis 1:1 CSB
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
John 1:1–3 CSB
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were created through him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created.
And by Him, Jesus, all things are held together.
Colossians 1:17 CSB
He is before all things, and by him all things hold together.
The full deity and humanity of Christ as fundamental to true Christianity.
John 8:56–58 CSB
Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day; he saw it and was glad.” The Jews replied, “You aren’t fifty years old yet, and you’ve seen Abraham?” Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, before Abraham was, I am.”
John 10:30 CSB
I and the Father are one.”
Revelation 22:13 CSB
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.

The Birth of Christ

We recently learned about the Birth of Christ in our Sunday morning service. Beautiful. Amazing service.
The Incarnation: literally God in flesh.
John 1:14 CSB
The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
The Alpha and Omega, the Almighty, the Creator of all:
Philippians 2:7 CSB
Instead he emptied himself by assuming the form of a servant, taking on the likeness of humanity. And when he had come as a man,
Conceived by the spirit. Born to a Virgin - as prophesied.
Isaiah 7:14 CSB
Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign: See, the virgin will conceive, have a son, and name him Immanuel.
Immanuel - God with us!
Sounds impossible!
Luke 1:37 CSB
For nothing will be impossible with God.”

The Life of Christ

R.G. Lee
As a man, He got tired; as God, He said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
As man, He got hungry; as God, he fed thousands with a lad’s lunch.
As a man, He got thirsty; as God, he gave living water.
As a man, He prayed; as God, he made, in praying, no confession of sin.
As a man, He was tempted in all points like as we are; as God, He was without sin, baffling his enemies with the question, “Who convinceth me of of sin?”
As a man, He slept; as God, He arose from sleep and stilled the raging tempest.
As man, a ship carried Him; as God, He walked on the rolling, tumbling sea.
As man, He accepted a village girl’s invitation to her wedding; as God, He there changed water into wine…
As man, He wept at Lazarus’ grave, as God, He raised Lazarus from the dead.”
In Jesus’ perfect humanity, He perfectly identified with us; yet He did not sin!
Jesus’ life was marked with perfect obedience; the obedience that was supposed to come from Adam. Where Adam failed, Jesus did not.
In life, Jesus went through every trial and temptation that you and I can go through.
Hebrews 4:15 CSB
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin.
Through Him we can approach the Father.
Hebrews 4:16 CSB
Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.

The Death of Christ

Jesus came to die. This is taught throughout Scripture. Sin requires a Sacrifice to right a wronged relationship.
John 1:29 CSB
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
Matthew 16:16 CSB
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
Matthew 16:21 CSB
From then on Jesus began to point out to his disciples that it was necessary for him to go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, be killed, and be raised the third day.
He did so willingly:
John 10:11 CSB
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
Hebrews 9:22 CSB
According to the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
Leviticus 17:11 CSB
For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have appointed it to you to make atonement on the altar for your lives, since it is the lifeblood that makes atonement.
Ephesians 1:7 CSB
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace
Romans 3:25–26 CSB
God presented him as the mercy seat by his blood, through faith, to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his restraint God passed over the sins previously committed. God presented him to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so that he would be just and justify the one who has faith in Jesus.
Christ died in OUR place
Romans 5:6–8 CSB
For while we were still helpless, at the right time, Christ died for the ungodly. For rarely will someone die for a just person—though for a good person perhaps someone might even dare to die. But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
So let’s piece all of this together:
God’s righteousness required that He demand a perfect sacrifice in blood, but God’s love and mercy led Him to provide that sacrifice in the person of His own SON! Having met the requirements of His own righteousness and of His redeeming love, that Father publically shown to be both JUST and the JUSTIFIER of those who come to Christ by faith!
2 Corinthians 5:21 CSB
He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

The Resurrection of Christ

He died, but Just as He promised: 3 days later, CHRIST AROSE!
He arose by the power of t God. The resurrection is our LIVING HOPE!
1 Corinthians 15:14–17 CSB
and if Christ has not been raised, then our proclamation is in vain, and so is your faith. Moreover, we are found to be false witnesses about God, because we have testified wrongly about God that he raised up Christ—whom he did not raise up, if in fact the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins.
But praise God, Jesus arose, and is living, and is seated at the RIGHT hand of the Father.
John Broadus
The resurrection of the Lord Jesus establishes the truth of Christianity. The apostle Paul says He is declared to be the son of God by the resurrection from the dead. It declared him to be all that he ever professed to be and so it established the truth of all his teachings and the truth of the whole christinaty society. the great fact that jesus christ rose form the dead is central fact of the evidence of Christianity.
The resurrection was the central strength of the early church. Peter proclaimed publically:
Acts 4:10 CSB
let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified and whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing here before you healthy.

The Ascension of Christ

Jesus was resurrected, and a week later, Ascended to heaven.
Luke 24:51 CSB
And while he was blessing them, he left them and was carried up into heaven.
Jesus arose, and then ascended and a cloud blocked Jesus from their sight.
Then 2 men in white clothes appeared.
Acts 1:11 CSB
They said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up into heaven? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come in the same way that you have seen him going into heaven.”

The Return of Christ

There are more than 380 references to the return of Christ in the NT.
Christ is coming again. As a matter of fact, that is woven into the Grand Story of the Bible:
Jesus is coming, has come, and is coming again!
Romans 8:34–35 CSB
Who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is the one who died, but even more, has been raised; he also is at the right hand of God and intercedes for us. Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Can affliction or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
We must always be prepared, and watching: but also vigilant against FALSE TEACHING!
Why? Because just as there were hundreds of false messiahs during the 400 years of God’s silence, there are hundreds of false teachers NOW!
Galatians 1:6–9 CSB
I am amazed that you are so quickly turning away from him who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—not that there is another gospel, but there are some who are troubling you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, a curse be on him! As we have said before, I now say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, a curse be on him!
Seems like a non-stop barrage of “This is a sign of the end times”! And all of them completely ignore the Word of God at best, or molest and pervert it at worse.
We must stand ready to defend what we believe and why! Don’t take my word for it, read the Bible.
Do NOT take Social media garbage for it: CHECK THE FACT BOOK! The BIBLE! Read it!
