Chapter 1

James 1:16–18 NKJV
16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. 18 Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.
Every good gift
Ps. 85:12; John 3:27; 1 Cor. 4:7
Psalm 85:12 NKJV
12 Yes, the Lord will give what is good; And our land will yield its increase.
John 3:27 NKJV
27 John answered and said, “A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven.
1 Corinthians 4:7 AMP
7 For who separates you from the others [as a faction leader]? [Who makes you superior and sets you apart from another, giving you the preeminence?] What have you that was not given to you? If then you received it [from someone], why do you boast as if you had not received [but had gained it by your own efforts]?
Father of Lights 1 John 1:5-7
1 John 1:5–7 NKJV
5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
James 1:19–21 NKJV
19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; 20 for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. 21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
Ecclesiastes 5:1–2 NKJV
1 Walk prudently when you go to the house of God; and draw near to hear rather than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they do evil. 2 Do not be rash with your mouth, And let not your heart utter anything hastily before God. For God is in heaven, and you on earth; Therefore let your words be few.
Proverbs 10:19–21 NKJV
19 In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise. 20 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver; The heart of the wicked is worth little. 21 The lips of the righteous feed many, But fools die for lack of wisdom.
Proverbs 17:27–28 NKJV
27 He who has knowledge spares his words, And a man of understanding is of a calm spirit. 28 Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.
Matthew 12:36–37 NKJV
36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Slow to Anger
Proverbs 14:29 NKJV
29 He who is slow to wrath has great understanding, But he who is impulsive exalts folly.
Proverbs 16:32 NKJV
32 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.
Proverbs 19:11 ESV
11 Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.
Ecclesiastes 7:8–9 NKJV
8 The end of a thing is better than its beginning; The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. 9 Do not hasten in your spirit to be angry, For anger rests in the bosom of fools.
