INTRODUCTION.
John 3:14–21 NASB95
14 “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; 15 so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life. 16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18 “He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 “This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. 20 “For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 “But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”
MESSAGE.

I. Old Testament Example.

People had a need because of their sin.
serpents bit them with dead poison.
they would die as a result of this.
no help with in themselves.
God provided the answer through the likeness.
God told moses to make a serpent and lift it for all to look to.
The only help was to look to God’s help.
People must believe.
Must believe enough to look to serpent lifted up.
Some would find this to be foolish and not look and die.
Through their belief they would be saved.

II. New Testament Fulfillment.

People had a need because of their sin.
Man kind had been bitten by a serpent (the devil) with the deadly poison.
The deadly poison is that of sin of the flesh.
Nothing mankind can do to satisfy payment of death.
If man is do die in sin to pay price he will stay dead.
God provided the answer through the likeness.
Christ came in the form or likeness of man (in the flesh).
Philippians 2:7 “7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.”
People must believe.
Must believe enough to look to the Christ on the Cross.
Some find this foolish.
1 Corinthians 1:18 “18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

III. The Judgement.

Jesus did not come to judge the world - he came save the world.
We must chose for ourselves.
What does that look like.
Reject the light for love of the world.
do not want light because our evil is exposed.
Accept the light.

Romans 10:9–11 NASB95
9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.”
