We are called to loving service rather than consuming infighting

Our freedom is meant to be used in loving service (v. 13)

Freedom is liberty within bounds: liberty to obey holy laws, liberty to keep the commandments of Christ, to serve mankind, to develop to the full all the latent possibilities within our redeemed natures. True Christian liberty never sets us free to indulge our lusts or to follow our fallen impulses.2

The law direct us to love (v. 14)

We may otherwise consume ourselves (v. 15)

We are called to walk in way of the Spirit’s freedom in spite of our sin

We walk the way of the Spirit to avoid the flesh (v. 16)

We can only go one way or the other, even though we still possess the flesh (v. 17)

We also possess the freedom of the Spirit (v. 18)

We are called to inherit the kingdom of God

The saints prove their conversion by their perseverance, and that perseverance comes from a continual supply of divine grace to their souls.
