God As Father
God As Father
Jesus is in Jerusalem for passover they are on the last night of it when they would light these 75 ft tall manorias in the temple courts. after they light them Jesus stands up and seys I am the light of the world..
31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” 33 They answered him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?”
They are like we aren't slaves. that's a little offensive. Calling me a slave.
Romans 6:15–16 “15 What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! 16 Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?”
Titus 3:3 “3 For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another.”
The Bible Knowledge Commentary 8:31–32
It was possible to “believe” in the message of repentance and the coming kingdom without being born again. Continuing in the truth is the sign of true followers and learners (disciples). If they really grasped His message, they would find salvation truth. Knowing this salvation truth would liberate them from their bondage in sin.
34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. 35 The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
Titus 3:4–6 “4 But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,”
Oxford Dictionary 2nd Definition
a device, or part of one, directly controlled by another.
Only the Son can set you free
37 I know that you are offspring of Abraham; yet you seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you. 38 I speak of what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have heard from your father.”
My words have no place in you. Because they Don’t Want God
I am sharing my testimony
Jesus is saying He is not giving truth from himself but from God His father
Ill: Its easy to become a slave to your desires even if they seem good
So he works and he builds with his own two hands
And he pours all he has in a castle made with sand
But the wind and the rain are comin' crashing in
Time will tell just how long his kingdom stands
His kingdom stands
or Bad striving after what makes you feel good at the cost of others
Weather the cost is time, money, caring
Tran: seeing God as a father lets fallow the true Father as we look at the Devil as Father
Devil As Father
Devil As Father
39 They answered him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would be doing the works Abraham did, 40 but now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. This is not what Abraham did. 41 You are doing the works your father did.” They said to him, “We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father—even God.”
What works dos He mean?= that someone had one father by law but another father by nature witch is true of all of us
Abraham welcomed, strived, and listened to the word of God
But they want the opposite to kill Him
They are spiritually blind so the only thing that makes sense to the is that Jesus is saying that they are a product of sexual immorality.
42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me. 43 Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Why would they love Jesus if God was their father.
1 John 2:4 “4 Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him,”
you don’t want to hear so you wont understand
Paul later wrote that “the man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him”
What is The devils desires
1 John 3:8 “8 Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.”
45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. 46 Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? 47 Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.”
If your of God you would Know that I am telling the truth
Because they couldn’t prove Him guilty of any sin that should have been a sign to them that He is of divine origin
you don’t don’t except the truth so your not of God
Ill: we look around and see so many lies some of the lies we see as clear as day but the people falling hardest for it. you try to show them the truth but they may call you a hater, unloving, intallerent. when your trying to show them the truth because you care and love them. they cant see because they are not of God and reject Him
Tran: seeing God, and the Devil as a fathers lets fallow the true Father as we look at Proving the Fatherhood
Proving The Fatherhood
Proving The Fatherhood
48 The Jews answered him, “Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?” 49 Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me. 50 Yet I do not seek my own glory; there is One who seeks it, and he is the judge. 51 Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death.”
Saying He’s a Samaritan and has a demon. would be insulting to anyone in the Jewish cutler at that time.
You say we are from the devil we will insult you too.
I do not have a demon and proof is that I glorify God
You dishonor the Son you dishonor God
Death = separation Jesus is talking about eternal separation from God
James 5:20 “20 let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.”
52 The Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon! Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet you say, ‘If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death.’ 53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? And the prophets died! Who do you make yourself out to be?” 54 Jesus answered, “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God.’ 55 But you have not known him. I know him. If I were to say that I do not know him, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and I keep his word.
We got you. Abraham Died, so did the prophets
Lazarus went to Abraham’ bosom Lk 16:19-30 We see Abraham not in the eternal separation
The Israelite Kills some of their prophets
1 Kings 19:14 “14 He said, “I have been very jealous for the Lord, the God of hosts. For the people of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword, and I, even I only, am left, and they seek my life, to take it away.””
I can’t Lift up myself.= nothing
My father is your God
If I say I am not I am A lier Like you
They are liers because they claim to Love and worship God but there heart is Far from God
Isaiah 1:13 “13 Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination to me. New moon and Sabbath and the calling of convocations— I cannot endure iniquity and solemn assembly.”
God Desires your hearts not Vain repetition (why do you go to church, or pray? is it something you should do or is it your desire?)
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced that he would see my day. He saw it and was glad.” 57 So the Jews said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?” 58 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.” 59 So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.
Abraham would have been rejoice over Me here.
He has rejoiced Is Abraham dead? is he seperated from the living God?
They scoff your not old enough to know this.
It is the truth Before Abraham I AM
I Am = Claiming to Be God
Exodus 3:14 “14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I am has sent me to you.’ ””
God Isn't the god of the past of the Future only but always Prescient
According to the law if someone claimed to be God they were to be Killed
Conclusion:
Conclusion:
What dos this mean for Us?
where are your desires the things that motivate you?
If its things for you or your image your Fallowing the Devil
If your desiring God and His righteousness then your Father is God
Something to think about
A persons desires is like a rudder on a boat. the boat fallows the rudders direction. are you headed to the rocks and destruction or are you headed to the savor who gave everything for you.
song: behold the Lamb
Communion:
Communion:
we practice open communion which means you are able to take as long as you believe, that Jesus Christ died for your sins, and rose again. but if you do not believe, ask you do not partake.
1 Corinthians 11:27–29 (ESV): 27 Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself
Pray over the bread
1 Corinthians 11:23–24 (ESV): 23 For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
shall we partake together
Pray over the cup
1 Corinthians 11:25 (ESV): In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
shall we partake together
