Who looks good in the salvation transaction?
If we know that people are sinners and we are - ASK Q16 and Q17 then if we know what sin is we know that we are not the good looking ones.
Who looks good in salvation?
Only God does because He is the only good One.
Why does God look good? Because God initiates and maintains that good change in the life of the Believer and this work is not just a one and done. It is continuous and He Himself does this work. He started it and He will finish it
Philippians 1:6“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.”
He transforms Believers from what they were to something new. From dead in trespasses and sins and made alive in Christ.
What are some of the ways that this is called in Scripture? LOOK FOR WORDS LIKE BORN AGAIN. NEW LIFE. SAVED. REDEEMED. RESCUED
Does the redemptive work end with salvation? Are we just saved from hell and that is it?
No! We are renewed day by day and brought into greater and greater likeness with Christ
So we want to answer the question about how this happens…

So here is tonight’s question: Q24 How are we brought into Christ’s redemptive work? A24 We are brought into Christ’s redemptive work by His Holy Spirit who creates both transformation and renewal in us
Titus 3:5–6“He saved us, not by works which we did in righteousness, but according to His mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,”
Breakdown of Terms from Catechism Question:
Redemption - The act of buying back or rescuing something or someone that was lost or enslaved. It is like a ransom - it is what you pay to buy back
Transformation - The fundamental and positive change that takes place in the life of the Christian in their belief’s, attitudes, values, or identity. It is like the change from a caterpillar to a butterfly
Renewal - The regeneration or revitalization that God brings to his people and creation, as part of the process of redemption. It is to make like new

Broader Context:
Transformation to a new state: Titus 3:1–7“Remind them to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, to slander no one, to be peaceable, considerate, demonstrating all gentleness to all men. For we ourselves also once were foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, despicable, hating one another.
Redemption initiated by God: But when the kindness and affection of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not by works which we did in righteousness, but according to His mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
Renewed as Justified Heirs: so that having been justified by His grace, we would become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

Questions:
So why does this matter at all?
Since salvation is not earned through good works it cannot be lost through sin - all sin has been paid. That being said to maintain our relationship and grow in it we must confess our sins to Him and He will forgive, this maintains our fellowship/communion with God - GOD’S REDEMPTIVE PLAN WAS DONE FOR HIS GLORY, HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO LOOKS GOOD IN IT
1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Titus 3:5“He saved us, not by works which we did in righteousness, but according to His mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,”
Since salvation is not initiated by the believer - it is initiated by God - because this is true salvation cannot be lost when they sin - HAVE WE EXPRESSED GRATITUDE TO GOD FOR THIS GIFT? (Also include in explaining John 6:37 that there is an element of coming to Christ showing that their is a personal response involved)
John 6:37 ““All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never cast out.”
Ephesians 1:4“just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him in love,”
The Christian looks more and more like Christ as they grow to know Him and they look less and less like who they were before. They have been born again - DO YOU LOOK MORE LIKE CHRIST TODAY THAN A YEAR AGO?
Colossians 3:10 “and have put on the new man who is being renewed to a full knowledge according to the image of the One who created him—”
John 3:3“Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.””
