Section I. Stewardship Realized is a topic that is about out Time Our Talents, and about our Treasures with the Owner in Mind. God Almighty is the Owner and that’s it plain and simple. II. Stewardship Rather Than Ownership

What is Stewardship?

Luke 16:1 And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods. 2 And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.

The word Stewardship in the Greek vernacular is the Oikonomos. It means The Administrator The Pastor/Preacher/ Teacher/ Leader who is the house manager.

Steward in the Greek vernacular is the word OIKONOMIA, (OY_KON-NO-MEE -AH) which means that the Steward is a Manager, an Overseer over the economy of the estate.

Another important thing about the Steward is that Steward is an employee of the Owner and is in the Managerial Capacity to be the fiscal Agent or Treasurer.

And lastly the Steward is a responsible trustworthy soul. And the old cliche is “Never put a hungry dog in charge of the meat, because they’ll eat all of it”.

Here are some general and specific definitions of Stewardship

1. Stewardship is The process of being responsible with someone else’s property while it is entrusted to you.

Now let’s expand the general definition of Stewardship.

2. Christian Stewardship is the recognition and faithful management of God's gifts, including time, talents, treasures, possessions, and resources, for the purpose of advancing God's kingdom and serving others.

And finally 3. Stewardship is the undertaking of God’s Interest for the pleasure of God; giving service in ministry as our True motivation.

Luke 16:1 Jesus also said to his followers, “Once there was a rich man who had a manager to take care of his business. This manager was accused of cheating him. That’s the problem…WE get to thinking that we can skim off the top a little bit and that God won’t notice it.

2 So he called the manager in and said to him, ‘What is this I hear about you?

I hear that you don’t have your my business affairs in order so Give me a report of what you have done with my money, because you can’t be my manager any longer.’ In other words you’re FIRED. Yes you’re fired.

and when you look at the text the Unjust steward said in verse 3 Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed. In the parable God takes way the Stewardship and again Stewardship is The process of being responsible with someone else’s property while it is entrusted to you. When you are responsible for God’s stuff you ought to take very serious. I still play music but JUST not in JAZZ clubs anymore. I realize that I serve in a different capacity now. And so this unjust Steward realizes that he’s no longer going to be employed as manager by the Owner. And he decides several things.

4. I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses. They may receive me into their houses. This says to me that we ought to be careful how we treat people.I’m not going to do you dirty unless you came with a dirty intention. I’m not going to go out of my way to cheat you and beat you out of your money. Somebody once said Rev you too honest. Yeah my honesty came out of necessity. In order to be a bonifide real deal pastor I had to be an honest person. My great Aunt Lilly D. Reed said Raym you’ve got to be a good citizen as well as an honest Christian.

Everybody ain’t honest. Too many people got angles like this unjust steward. Can I drop this off in your spirit man for free. You can slip and slide all you want, you can hook and crook all you want but sooner than later God catches up with you.!!! And when He does there is not more throwing bricks and hiding your hand,no more pleaing innocent until proven guilty, no more saying no harm no foul. God is the Righteous Judge.

So the unjust Steward takes decisive action.Look verse 5 “So the manager called in everyone who owed the master any money. He asked the first one, ‘How much do you owe?’

6 He answered, ‘Eight hundred gallons of olive oil.’ The manager said to him, ‘Take your bill, sit down quickly, and write four hundred gallons.’ That’s called let’s make a deal.

7 Then the manager asked another one, ‘How much do you owe?’ He answered, ‘One thousand bushels of wheat.’ Then the manager said to him, ‘Take your bill and write eight hundred bushels.’ That’s called cutting the garment according to the pattern.

8 So, the master praised the dishonest manager for being clever. Yes, worldly people are more clever with their own kind than spiritual people are. This simply means that a crook knows a crook. And sometimes Christian Personnel bring world concepts into God’s business and that when you can’t tell if the church is a business organization or a spiritual organism. The church has to be diligent with our business practices to insure that God’s property is well represented.

I’m well aware of this necessary task and so I have to deal with all kinds of people in my travels. Look at 9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.

You don’t ever know who you’re going to need in this life. Because the bible says 9 “I tell you, make friends for yourselves using worldly riches so that when those riches are gone, you will be welcomed in those homes that continue forever.

Jesus says 10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. If you can’t be righteous over little bitty stuff. If you cut up and carry on over little bitty money boy I hate to see what would happen if you were dealing with a lot of money.

A pastor was preaching and a rich man happened to hear his radio broadcast. At the end of the radio broadcast the pastor said I don’t think we;re going to be able to continue being on the air, we just don’t have the funds to keep paying for the broadcast. The rich man look the pastor up and said pastor what do you need for the entire year to keep preaching on the radio. the pastor told him. The rich man said well it’s January I’ll write your church out a check for your broadcast for the entire year. So the rich man wrote out a check for the year. The powers that be argued so much over how the funds should be spent since the check came in the name of the church and not the pastor. The Pastor took the check back to the rich man and said them colored people carried on so bad over this little bitty money until I hate to see what they’d do if you sent the resources that God really told you to send.

The point is if your core spiritual values doesn’t respect the Owner of the property then you’ll do all kind of unholy stuff and then don’t care what actually happens after that. Some people think of God in a panatheisitic way . Panatheism is the religious study that believes that God created the Universe but after he created the universe God left and went away somewhere and is never going to return. So I can act any kind of way I want to, because God ain’t com ing back!!! I won’t face any consequences for my unholy actions But the bible teaches us that A Steward is an OIKONOMIA, (OY_KON-NO-MEE -AH) which means that the Steward is a Manager, an Overseer over the economy of the estate of another. Every Owner comes back and check on their property. God is going to come back and check on his property.

And so when God comes back I want my Stewardship to be aligned properly with My God.

So what is Christian Stewardship 2. Christian Stewardship is the recognition and faithful management of God's gifts, including time, talents, treasures, possessions, and resources, for the purpose of advancing God's kingdom and serving others.

Section III. What is Sanctification?

Sanctification Sanctification is the ongoing supernatural work of God to rescue justified sinners from the disease of sin and to conform them to the image of his Son: holy, Christlike, and empowered to do good works.

Sanctification Concept The devoting or setting apart of anything to the worship or service of God. The race of Abraham and the tribe of Levi were thus consecrated. The Hebrews devoted their fields and cattle, and sometimes the spoils of war, to the Lord. According to the Mosaic law the first-born both of man and beast were consecrated to God.

Sanctification is a progressive work of God and Man that makes us free from sin and makes us more like Christ in our actual lives.

Sanctification simply Put is a Change of Behavior .
