ITS THE SOURCE…EVERY NEWS REPORT HAS A SOURCE…
AND THE STRENGTH AND VALIDITY OF THE NEWS BEONG REPORTED IS DEPENDENT ON THE SOURCE…
WE WOULD ALL AGREE THAT AN EYE WITNESS SOURCE IS THE BEST NEWS SOURCE RIGHT???
WE ARE GOING TO SEE THAT FACT RING TRUE TODAY…
THE IMPORTANCE OF THE SOURCE FOR THE GREATEST NEWS EVER REPORTED…
But BEFORE WE DO THAT…

PAUL IS LETTING THEM KNOW THERE IS ONLY ONE GOSPEL!!!

HOW DO YOU KNOW PAUL THAT THE “ONE TRUE GOSPEL” IS THE ONLY GOSPEL???
I GOT THE GOSPEL DIRECTLY FROM THE SOURCE
READ V 11-12
I GOT THIS GOSPEL FROM THE RISEN CHRIST HIMSELF!!!!
And We are going to see in the text today, Paul defending the gospel by showing us his story of how he received this Gospel from the source, from Jesus…
AND NOT ONLY THAT…
HE IS GOING TO SHOW US THE VALIDITY OF THE TRUE GOSPEL BY TELLING US HOW HEARING AND PUTING HIS FAITH IN IT RADICALLY TRANSFORMED HIS LIFE!
Paul is going to share his testimony with us today …
A man like Paul could have only been transformed by a gospel that he got from the mouth of God Himself.
And through it we will see the proof of the One True Gospel in the incredible effect it has
Pauls testimony is going to show us 3 things the One True Gospel of Jesus does…
AND THE FIRST IS THIS…

Paul states who he was before Jesus…that he was a:
Paul was a Pharisee…
Persecutor of the Church of Jesus
Profitor (KJV)…he advanced well as a Pharisee (high ranking)
Zealous for the Jewish Laws and Customs
This is the beginning of Pauls testimony…WHO HE WAS BEFORE JESUS
We can find a more detailed account of Pauls testimony in ACTS 22.
Acts 22:3–9 ““I am a Jew, born in Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city (ROME), educated at the feet of Gamaliel according to the strict manner of the law of our fathers, being zealous for God as all of you are this day. I persecuted this Way to the death, binding and delivering to prison both men and women, as the high priest and the whole council of elders can bear me witness. From them I received letters to the brothers, and I journeyed toward Damascus to take those also who were there and bring them in bonds to Jerusalem to be punished. “As I was on my way and drew near to Damascus, about noon a great light from heaven suddenly shone around me. And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’ And I answered, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And he said to me, ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting.’ Now those who were with me saw the light but did not understand the voice of the one who was speaking to me.”

Paul running around beating, imprisoning, and killing followers of Jesus…was good at it…getting rewarded for it…
Heading toward Damascus to do the same
Its here that Paul meets Jesus…HE SEES THE ONE TRUE GOSPEL IN THE FLESH…
AND THE FIRST THING HE DOES…THE SAME MAN WHO WAS PERSECUTING JESUS…
HE FALLS TO HIS KNEES…
WHAT KIND OF POWER MUST PAUL HAVE WITNESSED TO MAKE HIM FALL DOWN AND WORSHIP THE GOD HE WAS PERSECUTING…
And as he does that… the Lord Himself calls Paul out for his sin…
Paul, Paul…why do you persecute me???
Can you imagine?!?!
This man was darkness for the church, and now he is kneeling before the light…
Because he now knows he has been sinning and who he has been sinning against…
THE ONE TRUE GOSPEL EXPOSES SIN…THATS THE FORST THING IT DOES…
And he witnesses the one true gospel…and look at the effect it has on him…

THE SECOND PART OF PAULS TESTIMONY SHOWS US THAT THE ONE TRUE GOSPEL OF JESUS…

PAUL GOES FROM PERSECUTOR TO PREACHER!!!!
Acts 22:10–15 “And I said, ‘What shall I do, Lord?’ And the Lord said to me, ‘Rise, and go into Damascus, and there you will be told all that is appointed for you to do.’ And since I could not see because of the brightness of that light, I was led by the hand by those who were with me, and came into Damascus. “And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, well spoken of by all the Jews who lived there, came to me, and standing by me said to me, ‘Brother Saul, receive your sight.’ And at that very hour I received my sight and saw him. And he said, ‘The God of our fathers appointed you to know his will, to see the Righteous One and to hear a voice from his mouth; for you will be a witness for him to everyone of what you have seen and heard.”

Paul goes from persecuting Jesus TO living a life dedicated to Him
He goes from trying to kill the One True Gospel TO proclaiming it across the world!!!
As we know Paul eventually gives HIS LIFE UP for doing this!!!
He was beheaded in Rome for his faith in Jesus!!!
THAT FAITH ALONE IS WHAT SAVES YOU FROM A DEATH THAT YOU DESERVE!!!
This goes against everything that the Judaizers are preaching…
THAT JESUS PLUS GOSPEL…
But Pauls testimony alone shuts that down….
You see Pauls actions did not merit his encounter with the living God…
In fact he did the opposite… Paul was persecuting Jesus…
Pauls good works didn't lead to this encounter…
NO!!!
The True gospel shows us that…
Salvation isn't a product of good works…
Salvation isn't a product of good works…
Good works are a product of salvation!
Good works are a product of salvation!
IT IS IN THE MERCY OF GOD OUR SALVATION LIES!!!!
AND WHEN WE RECIEVE THIS FREE GIFT…WE ARE TRANSFORMED JUST AS PAUL WAS INTO ONE WHO BEARS GOOD FRUIT!!!
ALL BECAUSE OF THE FINISHED WORK OF JESUS CHRIST!!!
The one true gospel transforms wretched sinners into godly Christ followers…
AND AS WE WILL SEE IN THE REST OF CHAPTER 1…
IT TRANSFORMS US INTO A PEOPLE WHO…

Paul is using HIS TESTIMONY to let the Christians in Galatia know that there is one Gospel, and that Gospel is the only one he preaches, and that the only Gospel he preaches is the one that came direct from Jesus Christ on the road to Damascus.
That’s all the validity that’s needed…
And he says that he didn’t immediately consult with anyone, he didn’t run to the 12 apostles and say hey I guess I’m one of yall now! Where do you need me?
HE DIDN’T NEED TO!! HE NEEDED ZERO CONFIRMATION FROM MAN, HE RECEIVED HIS ORDERS FROM THE LORD HIMSELF! FROM JESUS!
HE WAS TRANSFORMED…
And what did he do.. He went straight to preaching the Gospel…to Damascus, to Arabia, to Syria and Cilicia (Silisia)
FOR 3 YEARS!!!! BEFORE HE SAW ANOTHER APOSTLE!!!!
No permission from man to preach the gospel needed, he got that permission from Jesus himself.
Paul is letting them know, , you want me to defend the Gospel……I GOT IT FROM JESUS! CASE CLOSED!!
IF YOU DON’T BELIEVE THAT…LOOK AT MY LIFE!!!!
My life was transformed radically because I heard the true Gospel from Jesus Himself!
THERES YOUR PROOF!!!!
AND NOW PEOPLE WHO ARE HEARING MY TESTIMONY ARE GLORIFYING JESUS!!!!!
People are going around talking about how this Pharisee who was killing Christians is out proclaiming Jesus!!!
THE FINISHED WORK OF JESUS IN OUR LIVES BRINGS GLORY TO THE LORD!!!
PAUL IS SHOWING US TODAY HOW POWERFUL A TESTIMONY CAN BE!!
HOW IT CAN BRING GLORY TO JESUS!!!
SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR US????
When your in front of people who question the validity of the ONE TRUE GOSPEL…
Share Pauls testimony… YES…
BUT ALSO SHARE YOUR TESTIMONY!!!
Our testimony shows the proof of the gospel
You are a walking billboard for the validity of the gospel of Jesus
HOW JESUS TRANSFORMED YOUR LIFE!!!!
HOW ONE DAY YOUR SIN WAS EXPOSED….YOU WERE TRANSFORMED…AND HOW YOUR LIFE IS DEDICATED NOW TO GLORIFYING JESUS
SO I WANT TO CHALLENGE YOU CHRIST FOLLOWER…
As you move throughout the week this week, I challenge you to think about how Jesus came into your life.
