The Judgement Day

Introduction:

A. This Past Week Many People From Around The United States Witnessed The Great American Solar Eclipse

- People were talking about and preparing for the eclipse for weeks.

- People were excited about the eclipse.

- People did anything possible to see the solar eclipse in totality.

B. Preparation For Judgement Day

- “Wish people would prepare for the judgment like they are getting for this eclipse”

- People need to be prepared for Judgement Day

- Are you ready?

I. When Is Judgement?

A. Christ Will Come Again

- John 14:1-3

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.

B. God Appointed A Day (Acts 17:30-31)

Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”

C. Judgment Is After Death – Heb. 9:27

D. That Day is Unexpected

II. Who Will Be Judged?

A. Everyone Will Be Judged

- All Who Ever Lived Will Be Judged

Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.

B. No One Will Escape Judgment

And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?

- God is not a respecter of persons (Rom. 2:11)

III. How Will We Be Judged?

A. Individually

–- We will not be judged as a church

–- We will not be judged as families

–- “each one” - 2 Cor. 5:10; Rom. 2:6

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

who “will render to each one according to his deeds”:

IV. What Will Be Judged?

A. Everything Will Be Exposed - Heb. 4:12-13

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

B. We Will Be Judged According To The Good and The Bad – 2 Cor. 5:10

C. We Will Be Judged According To Our Works – Rev. 20:12

D. We Will Be Judged By Our Words

E. We Will Be Judged By Our Thoughts

F. We Will Be Judged By Our Secrets (Rom. 2:16; Ecc. 12:14)

V. Are You Prepared?

A. Why Is Preparation So Important

- We Don’t Have A Guarantee of Tomorrow

~ We could die – James 4:13-15; Prov. 17:1

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. - Become a Christian
