God’s desire for you is that you are in his inner circle. God desires to be your friend. I get asked why the 5 fold ministry is so important and why the office of Prophet is under such great attack.
Psalm 119:12 TPT
12 My wonderful God, you are to be praised above all; teach me the power of your decrees!
When we accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior our decrees matter because they are God’s words through us, but if you back up a verse it speaks of where these decrees come from.
Psalm 119:11 ESV
11 I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
Psalm 119:11 TPT
11 I consider your prophecies to be my greatest treasure, and I memorize them and write them on my heart to keep me from committing sin’s treason against you.
I used two different translations to state this: What the Psalmist in the origional language is trying to get you to understand is that God’s promises toward you, his calling of you, and your declaration of that call is what helps us to keep from straying in our sinful nature. The power of prophessing God’s plan for our lives has power in keeping us in God’s plan for our lives, but it’s also God’s desire for us to profess his plans.
Amos 3:7 ESV
7 “For the Lord God does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.
God loves to reveal His plans and His purposes, but here’s part of the issue we need to learn. When God declares decrees so does satan.
Ezra 4:4–5 ESV
4 Then the people of the land discouraged the people of Judah and made them afraid to build 5 and bribed counselors against them to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.
The term counselors here come from the Hebrew word yo es (yaw-ats)
Yoes- meanging- advise, plan, or purpose.
So they hired people to discourage Israel by purposing (or declaring decrees) to frustrate Israel.
The term frustrate comes from the Hebrew parar which means to shatter, divide or break apart.
Today this happens when we take our eyes off of God’s promises and put our eyes on worldly circumstances. Satan is going to do everything in his power to speak against the plans of God in your life. his main goal is to use your words to do it.
These declarations against Israel eventually made a decree to stop the building of the temple.
Ezra 4:21 ESV
21 Therefore make a decree that these men be made to cease, and that this city be not rebuilt, until a decree is made by me.
Ezra 4:23 ESV
23 Then, when the copy of King Artaxerxes’ letter was read before Rehum and Shimshai the scribe and their associates, they went in haste to the Jews at Jerusalem and by force and power made them cease.
This stopped Israel from building for a time. The key is this:
When negative words and decrees come against you and your family you must not lose sight of what God has spoken over your life.
Ezra 5:1–2 ESV
1 Now the prophets, Haggai and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem, in the name of the God of Israel who was over them. 2 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak arose and began to rebuild the house of God that is in Jerusalem, and the prophets of God were with them, supporting them.
The two prophets decreed God’s will bringing to remembrance the purpose of Israel.
Most people stop fighting for God’s will here on Earth not because it’s difficult, but rather because they forgot their purpose. They forgot why they were fighting. Declaring the things of God in your life will guarantee you that you will remember why you what you’re fighting for.
In Ezra 5:17 more people came against Israel, but this time Israel didn’t forget their purpose and they fought back. The demanded an official search of decrees be made and when the decrees were searched the king found the official letter giving them permission to rebuild
Ezra 6:7 ESV
7 Let the work on this house of God alone. Let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews rebuild this house of God on its site.
Israel learned this:
Never doubt in the desert place what you learned in the wellsprings of the Holy Spirit
In other words, when trouble hits, because it will, remember why you started fighting.
God’s words give us decrees:
If you face a time of sickness
Isaiah 53:5 (ESV)
and with his wounds we are healed.
If you face a time of anxiety
Isaiah 53:5 (ESV)
5 upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
If you face financially difficult times
Deuteronomy 8:18 (ESV)
18 …for it is he who gives you power to get wealth,
If you face confusion or mental duress
2 Thessalonians 3:16 ESV
16 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.
As you begin to speak these verses God has given us over your life then your mentality will change which will give yo the power to change your situaiton.
When you begin to fight in the right war with the right tools What Satan has meant to use to shut you down God will use to build you up.
Ezra 6:8 ESV
8 Moreover, I make a decree regarding what you shall do for these elders of the Jews for the rebuilding of this house of God. The cost is to be paid to these men in full and without delay from the royal revenue, the tribute of the province from Beyond the River.
Cyrus’ decree not only broke them from the yoke of slavery- salvation
It not only gave them permission to walk in freedom- rebuilding
Cyrus’ decree used world means/money to fund Godly advancement- provision.
So I want to close with this thought”:
When a decree is made things begin to shift in the spiritual realm, activate Heavenly angels to move on your behalf, and open doors that were previously closed.
Isaiah 55:11 ESV
11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
Decrees bring fulfillment.
