Romans CH 9

Recap Ch 8:

Paul in this chapter addressed the Gentiles , remember the whole book of Romans was written to the Jews and the Gentiles

God sent His only Son to take on flesh and Sin to die for us

Walking in the flesh vs walking in the spirit

When we are in the flesh we can not please God

Being in the spirit gives life to us through God

Living according to the flesh brings forth death

When we are living a life according to the spirit we put to death the desires of the body and we Live !

( you cant mess up if your living in the spirit )

For those of us who live in the Spirit we are the Sons of God Romans 8:14 “14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”

In this Chapter we learned that we Have been given

Life: VS (1-11)life in the spirit makes us free from the Law of Sin and death ; God covered us again through the life and death of Jesus on the cross;

Jesus’s death gave life to us un like the Law that aroused the sin in our life

Romans 8:6 “6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”

again living in the flesh is death and living in the spirit is Life and Peace

We can not please God when we are living in the flesh

it does not work that way

you are living for yourself when you are in the flesh instead of Living for Him

It is important as believers that we allow the Spirit to Live in us. That is what brings us life and peace

Liberty: ( vs 12-17) we have freedom , again living according to the fallen nature we have leads to death

we have power through the Holy spirit to overcome the sinful nature in us and to stop doing the sinful things of the body

the Holy spirit has given us the ability to be adopted into the Family of God

the Holy spirit has also given us a consciousness that God is our father

it becomes second nature to us when we are filled by the spirit to cry out to God as our father

Hope : (vs 18- 25) the best is yet to come , God will reveal to us His Glory ; and who His children really are

the suffering we go through will be nothing compared to the Glory we will experience through God

Guidance : (vs26-30)

Romans 8:26 “26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

God gives us guidance through the Holy spirit , no matter the circumstances going on in our Life

Romans 8:28 “28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Through the Lord our circumstance as believers is not based on only good things, but EVERYTHING can be taken back and used for good through Him

Again The lord is the one who will guide us through the hard parts of this Life

He is our standard that we get to lean back on

Love : Romans 8:31 “31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”

God loves us

So Much that Jesus died for us , No one can condemn us because Jesus Died and rose again

Judgement was fulfilled by Jesus and His death on the cross

Nothing can separate us from the Love of God

Now Lets get into Ch 9:

Romans 9:1 “1 I tell the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit,”

Romans 9:2 “2 that I have great sorrow and continual grief in my heart.”

Romans 9:3 “3 For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my countrymen according to the flesh,”

Romans 9:4 “4 who are Israelites, to whom pertain the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises;”

Romans 9:5 “5 of whom are the fathers and from whom, according to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God. Amen.”
