What are the principles of the doctrine of Christ?
Hebrews 6:1–2 KJV 1900
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
This is our foundational text for understanding the doctrines Christ taught his apostles which they have taught us through the written Word of God.
The word for principles here is originally translated from the Greek word “arche”: “beginning, first, primary” the context here gives a meaning that is synonymous to “foundation.”
Do not take this class as an exhaustive teaching on Bible doctrine. We are only laying the foundation for what you would call “primary teachings” or “beginning doctrines” on the Christian life. These are essential for both old and new believers.
Lastly, notice that the Scripture here notes only a handful of doctrines, firstly, repentance and faith, baptism, laying of hands, the resurrection, and eternal judgment.
