Do you truly know our position, or are you out of position?
Do you truly know our position, or are you out of position?
Main scripture: Colossians 3
1. Set and Positioned
a. Unity within the body and amongst brothern
b. Seeking: Deals with our minds and our thoughts
c. The 3realms of the spirit: Flesh, Mind/soul, Spirit
Colossians 3:3 : Reminder!
“For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.”
Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.
a. Your life is no longer yours!
b. When are you considered Sons and daughters of the Most high?
Note: Then and only then will you be Revealed as an “Adopted Heir!”
Things of the Earth/Flesh
Sexual Immorality: Root word: Porneuo, porn, pedophilla (masterbation in most cases)
note: These things are not beneficial to produce offspring, so keep your boundaries! Never push them! 1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”
Paul reminds us to keep focused!
2. Iniquity: A wicked act…Sin! Immoral conduct or Practice that is a
habitual; a violation of a Right or Duty!; An act that is harmful and offesive to God our Father!”
3. Impurity/Uncleanliness: Having a phyysical or moral blemish, so as to make impure! Lev15
a. Lev 15
note: sexual sins gets the best of us! If the mind is governed by the flesh (the 2nd realm) the sentence is death! If the mind is governed by the spirit, our reward is life!
example: A habit of self-pleasure governed by the mind!
4. Lust: A strong craving or desire, often of a sexual nature; But epithumia is often used to refer to sinful desires, so epithumia is also rendered as “lust” and “passions,” as well as “desires.” Lust is the desire for anything that is sinful, such as illicit sex, intoxication, ill-gotten gain, revenge, or anything else.....Warning....God forbids!
5. Evil desires:sexual pleasure, food and drink, comforts, wealth, influence, respect and admiration of others, Killing is evil, lying is evil, slandering is evil, abuse is evil, gossip is evil: envy is evil, hatred is evil, to cling to false doctrine is evil; all seem desirable as God's good gifts, can easily displace God as the object of our worship, and become the “evil desires of youth”.
Question one may ask: What does flee the evil desires of youth mean?
He was referring to strong uncontrolled desires that are characteristic of the young and immature but may continue throughout life without the Holy Spirit's guidance.
6. Greed:“Ruthless self–seeking and an arrogant assumption that others and things exist for one's own benefit.”
Warning: All fall under the Root “Idolotry”: The worship of someone or something other than God as though it were God. Warning...The first of the biblical Ten Commandments prohibits idolatry: “You shall have no other gods before me.”
Warning signs:
Asking the question “ Am I entertaining sexual sin?”
Making compromises
Leaving footholes or portal for the enemy to gain ground
Inner morality signal goes off but is ignored
Note: Paul reminds us to stay focused
