Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
To begin with brothers and sisters, I’m excited that we’re going to Baptized our youth today. We have so many reasons to be thankful that these children and teenagers were willing to be Baptized. This is the LORD’S doing and it’s marvelous in our eyes. . The bible says that there is joy in heaven over one soul that is saved.. Boy I bet you they shouting in heaven over 8 that got Baptized this morning. Every parent and grandparent and great grandparent is happy today.
The Preacher, Teacher, Leader, Peter, said in Acts 2:38, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
I have to ask at least two theological questions about the text. to make it make sense. The first question is why did the bible says in verse 28 then Peter. Then Peter means that something came before Then Peter. We can’t go forward until we see what happened back there. So let’s recollect or recognize what happened before the bible says then Peter.
1. Jesus rose from the dead Early Easter Sunday Morning with All Power in His Hands.
2. Jesus told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem until He showed up.
3. Jesus gave the disciples the gift of the Holy Ghost and it looked like Tongues of Fire.
4. Peter and the disciples began to speak in languages that they had never learned before. Now a days they call it speaking in tongues.
5. The People thought they were drunk and Peter said Wait a minute it’s just 9 o-clock in the morning.
6.The Gift of the Holy Ghost had Peter and the disciples speaking languages that other people from places heard.
7. Then were from: 9 Parthia, Media, Elam, Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia, 10 Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, the areas of Libya near Cyrene, Rome 11 (both Jews and those who had become Jews), Cretes, and Arabians.
8. Peter told them that the reason that you hear us speaking in tongues that you can understand is because of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
9. Peter began to teach and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Peter said to the foreigners that they had better put some respect on Jesus’ Name. And Peter Preached from the book of Joel and Joel the prophet 17 said And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: 18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: 19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: 21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. That’s the essence of the message Everybody who calls on the Name of Jesus will be saved.
Peter said that God would not leave Jesus’ soul in hell, to rot or see corruption. Peter preach some kind of sermon. Peter’s sermon had sacred solid sound doctrine that caused the people to feel ashamed and sorrowful. And so the bible says that some of them believed and some of them were confused and didn’t know how to believe.
10. Then Peter said in Act 2:38 Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. And so what does it mean to Repent? The word repent to Change my mind about doing bad stuff and turn towards God and do good stuff. And so Repentance is a Change of Mind.. Then Peter says in the b Clause in verse 28, And be Baptized. Being Baptized means that you have shown an outward expression of an inward change. In other words You just showed the world that you love Jesus and that you accept Him and you personal Lord and Savior. Then Also in Acts 2:38 Peter tells the crowd of people that they had to be Baptized in the name of Jesus. And this is important because the world presents all kinds of wrong stuff to influence our children. Those influences are other gods who are desperately trying to steal our souls away. So children you get Baptized to let the devil know that you don’t belong to him. That you belong to the Lord. When I said I now Baptize you, in the name of the Father and in the name ppf the Son and in the name of the Holy Ghost Amen and dipped you down in the water, The Lord Himself made a Change in you and now you’re a part of the community of Christians and Then one day,,, a long time from now, you’re going to have to stand before God Almighty and know that you belong to Jesus. And know that you know that you sure nough know that you’ve been Born Again. I’ve got to quit But lastly Peter said in Acts 2:38 in the c Clause WE need forgiveness for our sins. Everybody in here needs forgiveness for our sins. I know I’m right about it because the bible says in Romans 3:23 For All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. I know deep in my heart I need Jesus For the Remission of my sins. The word Remission in the Greek vernacular is the Word Af fes sis (aphesis) and it literally means to pardon and excuse the wrong doings of a person. Like the Judge in a court room who Pardons and criminals sentence and allows him/her to go free. That what Jesus did for us he told us to be Baptized for the Remission of sins for the forgiveness of sins for the freedom from sins.
Preach Rev Allen. Then lastly in Acts 2:38 in the D Clause of the verse is where I’ll close. The D Clause of the text is very important because it’s where Rev Peter said that we will receive the Holy Ghost. And what I like about this is that Children the moment that you got Baptized you recieved the Remission of your sins and God imparted the Holy Ghost upon you. And I personally and humbly and graciously asked the Good Lord to Seal your Fate to the day of Redemption. And that means that the devil is mad about one he thought he had. And likewise the bible says that there is Joy over one souls that repents and turns towards God.
I promised I wouldn’t be long but tah the bible says that after Peter finished Preaching 5 Thousand Souls were saved to the Body of Christ. I’m so glad that The Lord is still in the prayer answering business um um um and He’s still upon His throne um um. Please Sir to Have Mercy. Oh Lord Oh Lordy. And let me testify a long time ago I was too mean to live and I wasn’t fit to die and Jesus stepped in right on time . He saved my soul and made me whole. He picked me up and turned me around put my feet on solid ground. Hey Hey Hey Lord.
Yes, Is there anybody in here that know you’re saved. That you’ve been Born Again. That you’ve been bought with a Price. That you’ve been washed in the precious Blood of the Jesus. If you know you’re saved let me hear ya Say Yeah Say Yeah Say Yeah Oh Lord.
