Summary of creation

Creation account is found in Gen 1-2

the main theme we see is that God made creation God

We still live in a beautiful creation. Just look around

everything was perfect everything was beautiful, no violence, no pain, no addictions, no anxiety, completely safe with God

What happend?

When we look around what do we see?

we look and see violence, pain, suffering, addiction, trauma, loss

this isnt how it is supposed to be.

Gen 3 and the Fall

when God made the garden for the people he placed a tree in it and said that the people cant eat from it

Genesis 2:8–9 ESV

8 And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed. 9 And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

This tree contained all the information of Good and evil

Genesis 2:16 ESV

16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden,

Satan as a serpent temps eve with a lie

Genesis 3:3 ESV

3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ”

The two of them eat the fruit and dont die.

however there is a spiritual death that occurs as sin has entered the chat

Sin is what is created acts as if it the creator

this is who we are.

Sin touched all areas of our lives, it infected us like a cancer

Sin vandalized the holy space

Sin creates a system of debt that requires an atonement. something must be paid back for what has been taken but also for what has been destroyed the nature of the environment

If some one steals from you they do two things

first problem is that they have done what is evil

second they destroyed the nature of the relationship

this what Tim Mackie calls vandalism

The problems is that human kind continues to do evil from the very foundation of time we have done what is evil,

Vandalizing the beautiful space God made

Since the people had such great sin

Creation has been polluted by sin.

The question we are left with now is how do we get out of this.
