Intro:

The Psalms were written to be songs of praise, and they are here for us to express ourselves to the Lord through His word
What better way to express sadness, happiness, joy, depression, anxiety, or fear to the Lord than to pray His word back to Him?
This psalm (like many others) was written by King David- David was the second king of Israel and the guy that slew Goliath
David was a musician who played in Saul’s court
David was an emotional guy who put all of his emotions into poem and song and these poems and songs are beautifully written from the heart of a man who was said to be a man after God’s own heart.
Given this nature of heartfelt prayer and the fact that all of scripture is breathed out by God, we can/should pray the Lord’s scripture back to the Lord when we feel the same emotions as David.
Tonight, we are in Psalm 19. I chose this psalm because David beautifully worships the Lord for His wonderful ability to set in motion creation and it does its job and it worships as it does it.
Then it shifts to praising the Lord for His ability to create rules for his people that are a delight both for Himself and those people that keep His law
You guys might be thinking, “RULES?!? Rules stink!” But God’s rules are different than the rules you are used to. God’s rules are a joy to keep because we practice them in order to worship the Lord!
1 John 5:2–3 ESV
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.
*Pray and read Psalm*

1. All of Creation Points to God v.1-6

We are going to pick up in verse 1- the first six verses describe how all of creation points to God- as we read it might sound really weird what David is saying in this text but just stick with me here. You will have to pay close attention.
Verse 1 says that the sky proclaims God’s handiwork, and you might wonder how the sky (something that does not even have a mouth) could proclaim anything.
Verse 2 also gives human traits to something that is inanimate. It says that the day and the night reveal knowledge. What knowledge??
What is this in verse 5 about the sun getting married? And He’s BUFF?!?
This all sounds weird but we see in verses 3 and 4 that David knows the sky, the day, and the night do not have voices, yet they speak to the world.
The knowledge they reveal is that God is the Creator of the world we live in as well as ourselves. The mere fact that there is a world, a sun, the day, the night, humans, you, me is because God created us and all of creation.
What is really cool is that the Lord created us and creation in such an intricately designed way that we glorify the Lord
The Lord gave us His image to bear
The Lord set creation in motion and everything serves a purpose- The sun
This is figurative language that lets us know that all that
Romans 1:20 ESV
For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
