Text: Luke 24:26-27, 44-45
Intro: The fulfillment of Jesus Christ birth, life, death, resurrection, and ascension are all according to the Scriptures, and the emphasis in Luke 24 is on “all” the Scriptures and it had to be… If Christ had not fulfilled all the Scriptures, then why fulfill any of them…
1 Corinthians 15:3–5 KJV 1900
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
If Christ had not suffered and died for the sins of mankind according to the law and prophets then it would have been for naught…
1 Peter 1:11 KJV 1900
Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
Mark 8:31 KJV 1900
And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
Mark 9:31 KJV 1900
For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.
Mark 10:32–34 KJV 1900
And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him, Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles: And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.
I think we all understand that Christ being the fulfilment of the law means that He did that which the law could never do! The sacrifice of bullock, (that strong animal, or the lamb (before her shearers is dumb), were unable to fulfill the requirements of a Holy God!
End: Hebrews 10:1-18
Acts 3:18 KJV 1900
But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.
… Next week we will look at a shadow of good things to come… Like the Levitical high priest, who was only a picture, the offerings of the Old Testament, were imperfect, because man was imperfect! Christ fulfilled them all according to the Scriptures. Our doctrine is built in shadows, but in fulfillment!
