Micah 2:13 KJV 1900
13 The breaker is come up before them: They have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: And their king shall pass before them, And the Lord on the head of them.
The breaker is actually referring to the Messiah Jesus and this is the important part of speaking the truth is realizing where you are coming from. Micah is prophesying Jesus breaking out and the reality for this verse today is that we don’t fight battles. God is working on this in me.
We don’t fight battles; WE walk through victories
If the Christian life is done right and in full power the realization is we aren’t fighting for anything.
1 John 3:8 ESV
8 Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.
Notice first the past tense use of was. Jesus Destroyed the works of the Devil. It’s why he came which means that we are free to walk in Victory. We are free to align ourselves with God’s word and use what was already written as weapons for today’s trials.
Numbers 31:6 ESV
6 And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand from each tribe, together with Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, with the vessels of the sanctuary and the trumpets for the alarm in his hand.
Here’s the beautiful picture to display what John was writing about. So Israel is going to war together with the priests. This assumes that the Priests are bringing the worship team because the trumpets are coming. We know through studying Israel that often times the worshippers went ahead of the army. Why? Well the key word they use here is trumpet
T’ Ruwah: a blast of war; and acclamation of joy, a joyful sound
The definitions seem counter productive until you realize they serve the God of breakthrough or the Breaker: God went before them guaranteeing the Victory. So why wouldn’t Israel be excited to be victorious already. Even if they had to enter physical battle what kind of mind games would it play with the enemy if they were celebrating like they already won.
Our worship is a joyful sound. The things we proclaim can be joyful sounds. We don’t have to live depressed lives when we walk from a position of victory, advancement and favor. But we have to make and proclaim joy. We have to speak joy, truth, praise, worship, and God’s word in order to advance.
As Christians the only place we lose our battles are in our own Head. It’s where we are told we have control.
2 Corinthians 10:5 ESV
5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,
Our head is our job. The term take every thought captive means
To apprehend with violence and force
It speaks to aggressively protecting your mind. This is your job your area. God does all the other work- you just have to guard what’s between your ears.
Don’t lose battles you already won because you talked yourself out of showing up to the battlefield.
Let’s look at other terms for break through
2 Chronicles 20:20 ESV
20 And they rose early in the morning and went out into the wilderness of Tekoa. And when they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be established; believe his prophets, and you will succeed.”
Believe His prophets why? Because the prophets of God carry the word of the Lord. We talked about belief already, but what God is saying is believe what has been said and you will be both established and successful.
The term succeed:
Tsalach: Push forward, advance, prosper, to become profitable.
But we have to Travel completely though.
If we define breakthrough with dictionary.com it will tell us this in the first definition:
a military movement or advance all the through and BEYOND an enemy’s frontline defense.
Many Christians don’t see the fruiition of their destiny because they stop part way through. One we win the war we stop. We don’t spend time to collect the spoils. All the good spoils are in the castle. I’m not interested in what the military brings with them. I want what they are guarding and to get what they are guarding you have to go all the way though which takes more work and determination. If this were easy everyone would do it. We win the war and we fall over in exhaution. What if we won the war walked into the castle and worshiped and celebrated at what God had done. Some of my best worship experiences were done when I was most tired.
Deuteronomy 23:5 ESV
5 But the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam; instead the Lord your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loved you.
