Introduction:

Good Morning everyone, last week we went over God’s promise’s about becoming citizens of his Kingdom, the promise of having access to the throne, being able to come to God in Confidence, the promise of receiving blessing from God, and the promise of having fellowship with God. this week we are going to continuing this small series. with this being the last part of God’s promises. the promises of God we are going to being looking at today are, The promise of having him as a friend and guide, the second promise we are going to being looking at today is the promise of is receiving the promises of God, the third promise is receiving eternal life, and the fourth promise is obtain the crown of life. going over these promise is to show that God still keeps his promise even still today. people have trust issue's due to lack of God within their lives. it’s in human nature to cheat and lie. God shows what means to trust, and to keep promises even when times are hard, and trust is broken.

The promise of having him as Friend and Guide:

one the most comforting thought is that once we chose to become a Christian, and putting our old self aside, separating ourselves from the world. we gain amazing friend and guide. A friend who will never forsake us, and who can guides to eternal life. let go ahead turn in our Bibles to James 2:21-23
James 2:21-23 (NKJV)
James 2:21–23 NKJV
Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God.
Here in the letter of James we see that James explains Abraham faith, and was because of Abrahams faith that allowed him to become friends with God. throughout Abraham journey we see that Abraham has faith in God to Guide him to the promise land, and we understand because of his faith in God, this allow Abraham to become a father in his old age. we also see that James acknowledges Abraham Righteousness, and because of the Righteous and faith that Abraham had in God. we see that Abraham is was called a friend of God. as we continue with the Scripture’s and study the God’s teaching allows God to interact in our life, and we see that throughout the Bible. turn in your Bibles to 2nd Thess 3:1-6
2 Thessalonians 3:1–6 NKJV
Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you, and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith. But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, both that you do and will do the things we command you. Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ. But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us.
Just from this passage here in 2nd Thess 3:1-6 we see that the first verse is kinda broken into three parts about praying , in the first part of verse 1 we see that Paul usually request the early church for prayers in his ministry. usually Jesus and the Apostles would pray and ask for guidance. even today when we pray we should being asking for Guidance from God to guide us. in the second part of verse one Paul tells them as they pray for his ministry and other Christian's. Paul tells to them pray about the swiftness on how the words of God reach, and that it will glorify God. then if we continue with verse 1 in 2nd Thess 3:1 we see that the early church of Christian’s accepted these words from the apostles, and were willing to pray for these men. if we continue with 2nd Thess 3:2
2 Thessalonians 3:2 NKJV
and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith.
we see that Paul explains that as they pray for his ministry and the will of God to be done. we see that he as for them to pray for protection as he does the will of God because of men who are wick and who do not have faith in God would try to stop the will of God. this allows us to continue with 2nd Thess 3:3
2 Thessalonians 3:3 NKJV
But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.
From this verse Paul reminds the early church that God is always faithful, who we can have confidence in our time of need, because Paul understood the nature of mankind, and how mankind was untrustworthy. we see that Paul remind the early church that God will always protect us even when we don’t see it. today people struggle on trust’s others because of the world, and how the world involves itself in others life because of this there is a lack of trust for others. with what Paul says here we should have confidence in God, and in his family. this leads us to verse 4 in 2nd Thess 3:4
2 Thessalonians 3:4 NKJV
And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, both that you do and will do the things we command you.
Here in this verse we see that Paul talks about how He will have confidence in God who would lead the early church on the things that they would do, and that they will continue to obey the commandments of God and continue to do God’s will. now if we continue with 2nd Thess 3:5
2 Thessalonians 3:5 NKJV
Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.
from this passage here this verse is were our main focus should be on. we see that Paul is trying to explain that God directs hearts of those who trust and pray to him for Guidance in their life, to live up to God standard. we see that Paul is also praying for the early church that they receive and act upon the directions the lord gives. we see that the early Christians already cherished the love of God in their hearts, and we see the reception of the early Christians which moves God. with this in mind this allow us to move on to the last verse in the passage of 2nd Thess 3:6
2 Thessalonians 3:6 NKJV
But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us.
Here in the first Part of verse 6 we see that Paul is encouraging Christians to do everything in glory of Jesus Christ, willing to do the will of God, willing to be a servant of Christ, and willing to be submissive to authority God, and Jesus Christ. now if we continue with the second part of verse 6 here in 2nd Thess 3:6, in the second of this verse we see that Paul is warning Christian’s to walk away from those who do not follow, who are not like minded, who walk in their own ways. we see as Christians are able to live in the world but not be part of it. yet many people want God to guide them in this life without having to live according to his standards. with all this in mind about having God and Jesus as a friend and guide in our life. How we live according to God’s standards we will receive the most amazing friend and guide, also on how we live according to the words of God we receive his promises to his people.

Receiving the promise of God:

the second promise we are going to be talking about today is when we chose to live a life for God, we will also receive the promises that God promise to his people who live a life for him. Today many people want the promise that come from God without the doing the things that are necessary required by the standards how God wants his people to live according to his word. lets turn in Bibles to Gal 3:19-22
Galatians 3:19–22 NKJV
What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one. Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law. But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
lets break this passage down starting with verse 19 in Galatians 3:19
Galatians 3:19 NKJV
What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator.
we see that in the first part of verse 19 Paul ask a question about Law of Moses. Paul basically explains that the Promise of blessing all nations did not come from Law of Moses. if we continue with the second part of verse 19 we see that the Law of Moses came through because of the Israelite People continue to sin against God. The promise that made to them was the coming of one who would save them. we understand that in third part of verse 19 where Paul talks about the seed which is talking about the coming of Jesus Christ. Throughout the history of Isreal they continue to sin and not obey God, if you go back God Promise Abraham to make him father of nations, then we see that God promise his people Land of milk and honey, then we get to the point when the people of Isreal were not great full of the things that God provide for them because of this we see that group of people we not qualified to enter the land that was promise to them. They end up wondering around in the desert for another forty years. the fourth part of verse 19. Paul explains that God had always used mediators between him and the Israelite people and the Jewish people. they were angels of the Lord, also known as messenger’s. God spoke to his people through messengers, some of the examples can be found in Acts 7:53
Acts 7:53 NKJV
who have received the law by the direction of angels and have not kept it.”
and in Heb 2:2
Hebrews 2:2 NKJV
For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward,
This was how the Law of Moses was given. with this in mind we can now we can now continue with this passage here in Galatians. lets move on to verse 20 Gal 3:20
Galatians 3:20 NKJV
Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one.
in verse twenty we see that Paul is just explain that there is not just one party but two God being one, and the Jewish people being the other with Moses being between the two as a mediator. this allow us to move to verse 21 in Galatians 3:21
Galatians 3:21 NKJV
Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law.
from this verse here Paul was defending the Law by explain that was not useless, but because of the law Israelite people were discipline, they were being prepared for the Promise of God. throughout the history within the Bible we see that God disciplines his people who do not obey at first, even today God still discipline us who claim to be his children. this allow us to move to Gal 3:22
Galatians 3:22 NKJV
But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
in this first part of verse 22 Paul basically explains that all have fallen short, does not matter rather they were Jew or Gentle. the Jew were under the law and the Gentles were under the Jews, but through Faith that they may receive forgiveness through Jesus, and receive the promise made to Abraham. in the second part of this verse Paul explains that the only way to receive these promises from God is by having faith in his son Jesus Christ who died for all. The promise of God come through death of Christ, by living a life according to God’s standards. which leads us to our third point for today, another promise that comes through Christ is the promise of salvation.

The promise of Salvation:

The third promise of today is the promise of salvation. Today many people look for a hero, children have hero’s that they look up too, people in general look for the quality’s of hero. Christian’s have a hero, and that is our King Jesus Christ who died for all who sin. turn in your Bibles to 2 Tim 1:8-10
2 Timothy 1:8–10 NKJV
Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,
