I. THE FIRE NOT ONLY

(1) NEEDED TO FALL,

(2) MUST FALL,

3) BUT IT WILL FALL Today?

A. It fell on Mt. Carmel.

B. It fell at the dedication of the Temple

2 Chronicles 7:1–3

Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the house. And the priests could not enter into the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord’s house. And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

C. It fell on the day of Pentecost Acts 2:1–4

Acts 2:1–4

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

D. It is promised to everyone Joel 2:28-29

And it shall come to pass afterward,

That I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh;

And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

Your old men shall dream dreams,

Your young men shall see visions:

And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids

In those days will I pour out my spirit.

Acts 2:38–39

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

E. So Will it fall today ? When?

1. FIRE WILL FALL WHEN CHRISTIANS EXERCISE STRONG FAITH IN ALMIGHTY GOD

a. God’s is searching for a man or church that will step out on His promises and believe Him.

b. We are grasshoppers in faith and giants in wishing for God’s blessings.

Wishing, sighing, and longing is not enough.

We must have faith, and confidence in God

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

c. Matthew 7:7- 8

Ask, and it shall be given you;

Seek, and ye shall find;

Knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

d. Matthew 21:22 “And all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, BELIEVING, ye shall receive.”

E. Mark 11:22-26

22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

F. Faith connects man with the infinite God.

Faith is the hand that brings the strength of God to the weakness of man,

Faith; brings the little of man into the massive source of God,

It brings the ignorance of man into the wisdom of God ,

and it brings the helpless of man into the Grace of God.

g. Elijah’s faith was heavenly high faith and demon defying faith.

And Then the fire fell! If the fire is to fall today, we must believe God, though all demons and devils of hell are against us.

2. FIRE WILL FALL WHEN CHRISTIANS STOP COMPROMISING;

WITH THE ENEMIES OF GOD

A. Before all of God’s enemies:

Ahab, Jezebel, and the 850 false prophets, Elijah stood his ground.

He refused to compromise!

He didn’t sidestep the issue

He did not pass the buck

He did not wave the white flag of surrender.

B. It was a wonderful sight to behold!

He was standing up for God and for his own convictions.

It has been said, “God’s men should be like anvils, beaten on but unbroken and unmovable.”

C. Daniel “purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king’s meat” (Daniel 1:8). Kept himself holy before the lord!

The 3 Hebrew children were steadfast and unmovable

Daniel 3:16–18 (KJV 1900)

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.

If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

D. The Fire will fall in any day when people stand steadfast for God’s cause.

When Elijah was persecuted, he did not whine and whimper like a whipped puppy; he prayed. He challenged instead of running or hiding

3. THE FIRE WILL FALL WHEN HOLINESS IS NOT ONLY PROFESSED,

BUT EXEMPLIFIED IN OUR DAILY LIVING

A. When we build our altars right and offer the right sacrifices,

THE FIRE WILL FALL!

Romans 12:1—“… present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

B. God required holiness in the Old Testament and in the

New Testament.

OT.

1. Leviticus 11:44 —“For I am the Lord your God; ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy.”

NT

2. 1 Peter 1:16 —“Because it is written, be ye holy; for I am holy.”

3. Titus 2:11-12

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

C. We cannot talk filthy all week and expect fire to fall on Sunday .

We cannot live worldly for six days a wk. and expect fire of the holy ghost to fall on the seventh.

We cannot live on the devil’s ground of fun, foolishness, and frivolity all week and expect God’s favor and fire to fall in His sanctuary on Sunday.

CONCLUSION: We must live holy lives, build holy altars, make holy sacrifices, and then the holy ghost fire of the lord will fall.
