Revelation 3:20 NLT
“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.
Growing up I am sure you have heard a knock knock Joke. If not its simple one person says knock knock, the other goes on to say who’s there, they will state who is there and finally they will put a joke on the end. For instance lets do an example. Knock Knock, Who is there, Nacho, Nacho Who, Nacho Cheese….
We see This knock knock joke, and have heard plenty of other but I want to talk to you about another Knock Knock thats not a joke.
In this Life there is a knock that is taking place. This knock is not a joke but we sometimes take it as. We try to ignore the knock and drown the knock out with other things. Lets be honest we haven’t always wanted to answer the the door. If truth be told some our in a season now where you hear the knock and our drowning it out.
We Let so many different thing drown the knock out. We Letting what we listen to cause us not to hear the knock. What have you been listening to? We want to listen to the wrong thing. Listening to people Listening to family and friends. But not listening for the knock and the call. Just ask your neigbor what is your frequency on. Are you tuned in listening For God or are you listening for something else. We have our frequencny on the wrong channel. Your frequency is full of nonsense and foolishness and nothing that doesn’t bring any glory to God. You are wondering why you can’t hear the knock is because you frequency is on the wrong channel and full of static.
Check your Frequency. Who are you letting in your eargate that causing you to hear static. Check what you are listening to and who you are listening to.
Not only is our Listening to other things drowning out the knock, But look at your neigbor and ask them what are you watching. Visually we have drowned out the knocked. We are watching all these things that are not helping. What have you been watching that has you distracted? The bible helps us to remember what we should be watching and looking at. The bible says.
I will look toward the hills from whence cometh my help knowing that all my help comes from the Lord. The reason why are distracted because we are not looking to the right thing. We are stuck in the same predicament because we let our visual and hearing block us from hearing the knock .
Also we can’t hear the knock because of our emotions. We let our emotions pull us and take us to places that we don’t need to be.
lastly, we find that the company that we keep is causing us not to hear the knock. Check your circle is your circle talking about gossip or the gospel, are they talking about life or death. What company are you keeping? Are you being lifted up or being pulled down. Check your circle , is your circle helping or is it hurting.
Who do you have in your company? What is your company doing? Are you entertaining and going along with the foolishness? If so that’s the reason you can’t hear the knock.
So we see all of these things. I ask you today what is keeping you from hearing the knock?
Yes, we have all of these things that are trying to fight against us for us to not hear the knock. However, if we learn to let Jesus in if we learn to The door there are some benefits of letting him in.
We will have challenges we have disappointments who have letdowns, but if you learn to open the door and let Jesus in there are some things that Jesus will do for you?.
We see here in the text that the Laodicean church had a problem. This church was very prideful. They thought they had it all going on. They had money, wealth and riches. They were self reliant.
Not only was the Laodicean church like this but the church of today is like this. We are full of pride and self greed. We are depending on our own ability but just like Jesus knocked at the door of the LaodicEan church he is knocking at the door of our heart.
If we let him in there is some things he can do for us We can see this in the text.
Verse 20 in the 3 chapter of Revelation tells Us……
This brings me to my first point is YOU MUST LISTEN FOR HIS VOICE/KNOCK
Brothers and sisters The text says that Jesus is at the door knocking and not only is he knocking but along with the knock I’m sure he is calling too because the text says if anyone hears my voice. Brothers and sisters we have to listen for the knock. He’s not going to beat the door down but Jesus Is just knocking and waiting patiently. So I ask you again what is causing you not to hear the knock. Are you listening
