Recap on last week.
Okay, so now. Something huge is going to happen. God has told Noah to build a boat. And this boat is going to have to survive the entire earth flooding. Could You imagine what it would be like being the only person on earth out at sea with absolutely no land and it raining for months? This is what Noah is about to endure. But first…he has to build it.
So now guys, you shall be times. You have to build a boat with the exact things I give you. I will give you the measurements. Make sure its right!
(Give kids the assignment.)
Now, I read what is going to happen after the boat is built!
Genesis 6:17–22 ““Look! I am about to cover the earth with a flood that will destroy every living thing that breathes. Everything on earth will die. But I will confirm my covenant with you. So enter the boat—you and your wife and your sons and their wives. Bring a pair of every kind of animal—a male and a female—into the boat with you to keep them alive during the flood. Pairs of every kind of bird, and every kind of animal, and every kind of small animal that scurries along the ground, will come to you to be kept alive. And be sure to take on board enough food for your family and for all the animals.” So Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him.”
Now, we read on....
Genesis 7:1–5 “When everything was ready, the Lord said to Noah, “Go into the boat with all your family, for among all the people of the earth, I can see that you alone are righteous. Take with you seven pairs—male and female—of each animal I have approved for eating and for sacrifice, and take one pair of each of the others. Also take seven pairs of every kind of bird. There must be a male and a female in each pair to ensure that all life will survive on the earth after the flood. Seven days from now I will make the rains pour down on the earth. And it will rain for forty days and forty nights, until I have wiped from the earth all the living things I have created.” So Noah did everything as the Lord commanded him.”
Next task, with the things I give you, you have to pick a pair of any animal you think of, you have only a certain amount of time to make two of them, male and female. And go!
Now, at this time, Noah was 600 years old.
Now, something for you guys to know, is did you know at this time, there was no such thing as rain? How do you think plants and trees got watered then? By the ground! So this is goig to be the first time water falls from the sky. People thought Noah was nuts! Im sure they were calling him names and mocking him!
So when it was time to enter the boat, every animal that God had said came. Then God closed the door!
Now, we put your boats to the test. Can they float?? Put your animal on there too.
And the rain started in! What chaos do you think it would have been?! What a wild experience! All the other animals, the people, the wickedness, the trees, everything being washed away. But, the amazing thing is God protected his people. Through the end of the world, God protected his people. How long do you think it rained?
After seven days, the whole earth was flooded Even the highest mountains were covered! What is the tallest mountain? And it rained for forty days and forty nights.
Even that tall! How long do you think the waters covered the earth for? 150 days!
So this was part two. Next week we get into part three and we look at what is going to happen to Noah and his family.
