The power of music!
Listening to music triggers the release of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin, which are associated with pleasure, happiness, and social connection. These chemicals can elevate your mood, reduce stress, and even take away pain.
The rhythmic aspects of music can influence our heart rate, breathing, and even brain waves. Fast beats might energize us by increasing our heart rate, while slower rhythms can have a calming effect, slowing down bodily processes and promoting relaxation.
Music is closely linked to memory. Certain songs or melodies can evoke strong memories and the emotions associated with those memories. This associative property of music makes it a powerful tool for recalling past experiences or feelings, whether joyful, sad, or nostalgic.
The book of Psalms
The entire Book of Psalms is considered a collection of songs or poems.
Each Psalm is essentially a lyric poem intended to be set to music.
Originally, these texts were likely accompanied by musical instruments and were sung or chanted as part of religious ceremonies and personal devotion.
Historically, these songs served several purposes: they were a means of prayer and reflection, a way to express emotion and seek divine help, and tools for teaching spiritual truths and community history.
Psalm 34:1 ESV
I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
This is a very interesting song…
David had just fled from King Saul, who was seeking to kill him because of his jealousy over David's rising popularity and success.
David sought refuge in the Philistine city of Gath, but soon realized that his life was also in danger there because he was recognized as a enemy of the Philistines.
The king of Gath at the time was Achish, and his servants quickly identified David as the one who had been celebrated in songs saying, "Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands."
Fearing for his life, David decided to act like a madman.
He made marks on the doors of the gate and let his saliva run down his beard, making Achish believe he was insane.
Achish, seeing this behavior, dismissed David as harmless, saying, "Do I lack madmen, that you have brought this fellow to behave as a madman in my presence? Should this man come into my house?"
1 Samuel 22:1 ESV
David departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam. And when his brothers and all his father’s house heard it, they went down there to him.
It’s in the cave of Adullam where David begins to write…
Isolation can be healthy, if you can see the beauty of solitude …
Solitude, is often confused with loneliness, but you’re not alone!
Solitude provides…
Self-Reflection and Growth
Creativity and Problem-Solving
Peace and Quiet
Emotional Recharge
Spiritual Engagement
“A healthy Me, needs alone time”
I need time to process different situations in my life…
David said…
“I will bless the Lord at ALL times”

The phrase, at all times, more exactly ‘at every time

We all deal with situations in life….
For David is was the hatred of King Saul towards him
Every one is faced with a situation
And situations can feel like they are stacking up against you…
David had to make a decision…
A “Healthy Me” has to make better decisions…
I can look at my situations…
I can could say…
I will be impulsive (Pause)
I will give up
I will complain
I will be negative
I will stress out
I will clap back
I will worry
I will try to figure this out on my own
I will will seek help from others
I will panic
David made a choice…
I will “bless” the lord…

I will bless the Lord means “I will praise (or, thank) the Lord”

Paul said it like this!
1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV
give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
to be thankful v. — to be impressed with a feeling of gratitude for kindness received (and ready and willing to acknowledge it).
It’s something about Thankfulness that allows you to refocus yourself about the situation that you are facing.
I have learned, in every situation there is a lesson thats going to help me be healthier!
And when I think about it… Things good be worse!
The David said…
“His praise shall continually be in my mouth”
Praise: A song of praise
This song of praise is very key to how of view situations!
Because music is a reminder…
It reminds me of God’s faithfulness…
It reminds me of Where he brought me from…
It reminds me of how he loves me…
It reminds me of His love towards me…
And when I look at my circumstances
My mood changes…
This is why we are thankful
This is why we sing
My perspective is different :)
The way you respond is a sign of your health!
