RECOGNIZING SIN
RECOGNIZING SIN
What is personal revival?
Do I need a personal revival?
What steps do I need to take to have a personal revival?
This is not an easy task. In fact it is down right hard because you have to see thing as Jesus sees things.
But a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property. However, he kept back part of the proceeds with his wife’s knowledge, and brought a portion of it and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
“Ananias,” Peter asked, “why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the proceeds of the land? Wasn’t it yours while you possessed it? And after it was sold, wasn’t it at your disposal? Why is it that you planned this thing in your heart? You have not lied to people but to God.” When he heard these words, Ananias dropped dead, and a great fear came on all who heard. The young men got up, wrapped his body, carried him out, and buried him.
About three hours later, his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. “Tell me,” Peter asked her, “did you sell the land for this price?”
“Yes,” she said, “for that price.”
Then Peter said to her, “Why did you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.”
Instantly she dropped dead at his feet. When the young men came in, they found her dead, carried her out, and buried her beside her husband. Then great fear came on the whole church and on all who heard these things.
WOW! On the surface this seem a bit harsh.
Are they not doing something good?
Acts 5:4 “Wasn’t it yours while you possessed it? And after it was sold, wasn’t it at your disposal? Why is it that you planned this thing in your heart? You have not lied to people but to God.””
It was his to give so what is the problem?
The end of verse 4 lied to GOD.
Is lying really that serious?
Would we ever lie in this way?
I tithe, is that 10 % or is it a offering?
So Moses took the staff from the Lord’s presence just as he had commanded him. Moses and Aaron summoned the assembly in front of the rock, and Moses said to them, “Listen, you rebels! Must we bring water out of this rock for you?” Then Moses raised his hand and struck the rock twice with his staff, so that abundant water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank.
But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust me to demonstrate my holiness in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this assembly into the land I have given them.”
Again it seem a bit harsh, didn’t the people get water like they needed?
Moses was to speak to the rock and let them see GOD work.
Moses will not see the promised land now!
GOD takes sin seriously do you?
GOD looks a sin like we look at a pedophile.
Have you heard of the East African Revival?
It started in the late 1930’s
The East African revival as a movement sought to transform the spiritual situation of the missionary Church. It came about due to the amongst other things, uncertainty of the times and the slothfulness of the Church.
How was this revival so impactful?
They started looking a sin seriously and called it out.
Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the splinter out of your eye,’ and look, there’s a beam of wood in your own eye? Hypocrite! First take the beam of wood out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to take the splinter out of your brother’s eye.
The verse doesn’t stop with “Hypocrite”
What is the beam?
“then you will see clearly”
You want to know what push the leader of the East African Revival?
He was asked this question many times by other spiritual leaders and this is what he told them.
GOD gave me a vision, I saw a man walking and he was caring a huge load on his back. The Man got closer and I realized that it was Jesus and the load was sin. I asked him is that huge load was the sin of the world. He said no these are just yours!!!!
Invitation
You want a personal revival, you need to fall on you face in front of a holy GOD and turn from daily sin.
