How did our world come to exist?

John 1:3 NET
3 All things were created by him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created.
Colossians 1:16 NET
16 for all things in heaven and on earth were created by him—all things, whether visible or invisible, whether thrones or dominions, whether principalities or powers—all things were created through him and for him.
Hebrews 1:2 NET
2 in these last days he has spoken to us in a son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he created the world.
God spoke everything into existence
One thing I have always thought of is the idea that God speaking everything into existence could be what Science sees as the Big Bang
Science sees the big bang as something that exploded and everything came into existence — the Bible says that God spoke and everything came into existence
My question has always been why can’t they be the same? Science proving what the Bible is saying

Is Science a bad thing?

No
My wife is a scientist lol.
Science and the Bible just recently became enemies
Isaac Newton was a devote Christian who also came up with Newton’s laws of physics — which gave us a better understanding of gravity
Gregor Mendel was a devote Christian and he founded the science of genetics; identified many of the mathematical rules of heredity; and identified recessive and dominant traits
Ernest Walton was a devout Christian who said science was a way of knowing more about God. He won the Nobel Prize in Physics after he artificially split an atom and proved that E = mc2
Just to name a few
Science isn’t a bad thing — it only becomes a bad thing when we are trusting Science over the Bible

How can we use science to strengthen our faith?

I read a book one time called Finish the Mission by John Piper
It’s a mission book and one thing that it talks about in the first chapter is how everything was created to worship God
Piper points to the birds singing, the whale songs, and even how the galaxies praise God’s name
Psalm 33:6 NET
6 By the Lord’s decree the heavens were made; by a mere word from his mouth all the stars in the sky were created.
If you google hear Vela Pulsar you’ll hear a rhythmic sound of a star that turned into a supernova. The star is fulfilling Psalm 148:3
Psalm 148:3 NET
3 Praise him, O sun and moon! Praise him, all you shiny stars!

What do we do with things we can’t know?

Faith is the leap it takes to trust that God is in control when we can’t explain what we see
I can’t explain everything, but I know that God is in control

What did we learn?

I learned that most of the impactful scientists in history were Christian
We often in today’s culture see Christianity and science on opposite ends of the spectrum
Yet Robert Boyle who discovered the first gas, and has “Boyle’s Law” said “a deeper understanding of science was a higher glorification of God”
