Unlocking your Spiritual Gift

Introduction
Welcome
welcome to those who are joinging us online. please help us by liking commenting and sharing this service so more people can benefit by it.
thankyou for thos who joined us in person
As I mentioned over the last 2 weeks
this new series is intended to prepare us for the next major move of God that is on the horizon
We as the Body of Christ, must be ready as we carry out the plans of God.
We are preparing for the Billion soul harvest.
but its not just going to happen as we sit by and watch
instead every believer must join in and participate by fullfilling the role the Holy Spirit has place on each one of us!
How do we do that?
Well by partnering with the Holy Spirit.
I don’t expect anyone of you can heal the sick, or cast out demon, or share words of Life apart from the Holy Spirit
But I fully believe that as we partner with Holy Spirit you will indeed fulfill the word of God
Mark 16:17–18 NASB95
17 “These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
now i’m not suggesting we start picking up poisoness snakes to prove we believe
satan tempted Jesus with this
Matthew 4:6 NASB95
6 and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written, He will command His angels concerning You’; and On their hands they will bear You up, So that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’ ”
and Jesus responded
Matthew 4:7 NASB95
7 Jesus said to him, “On the other hand, it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ”
but we do see the correct application and fulfillment of this, in the life of Paul
Acts 28:3–5 NASB95
3 But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat and fastened itself on his hand. 4 When the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they began saying to one another, “Undoubtedly this man is a murderer, and though he has been saved from the sea, justice has not allowed him to live.” 5 However he shook the creature off into the fire and suffered no harm.
Paul never tested God, by playing with the snake, but when the snake attacked God had it covered
Today we are going to Discuss the Gift of the Holy Spirit known as a Word of Knowledge
Definition
What is a “Word of Knowledge”?
It is when Holy Spirit gives you information about a person or situation that you did not learn by natural means
Its not natural knowledge. Like I can stand here and say you are wearing.......
natural knowledge is something you can gain by observing, hearing, touching, tasting, smelling
Its gaining information from your natural senses
We all do it all the time.
At least I hope you do!
When we refere to “words of Knowledge”
we are speaking about gaining information through supernatural means
that may sound strange and out there,
but remember. As God is supernatural, everything He does is Supernatural
As humans we are natural, but the Spirit of God working through us allows us to participate in the supernatural.
the gift of a word of knowledge as a supernatural insight or understanding given by the Holy Spirit for the benefit of others.
I beleive this gift is very important, as it conveys to the receiver that there is more than just the natural world around us
That there is a God who is interested in them

I. The Biblical Foundation

1 Corinthians 12:8 NASB95
8 For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit;
Let’s remember from this passage
Paul is teaching on spiritual gifts, including the word of knowledge
it is a gift from the Holy Spirit and one of the many spiritual gifts given to the Church.
the gift is meant for edification, encouragement, and strengthening the body of Christ.
not to be exploited for personal gain
but to edify encourage and stregthen everyone involved in the plans and purposes of God

II. Examples of the Word of Knowledge in Scripture

1: Jesus' conversation with the Samaritan woman at the well

John 4:16–19 NASB95
16 He said to her, “Go, call your husband and come here.” 17 The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have correctly said, ‘I have no husband’; 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; this you have said truly.” 19 The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet.
Word of Knowledge is not meant to condem or embarrass
but rather to bring freedom into the individual life
it offered revelation
for this woman it revealed to her Jesus was the long promised Messiah
John 4:28–30 NASB95
28 So the woman left her waterpot, and went into the city and said to the men, 29 “Come, see a man who told me all the things that I have done; this is not the Christ, is it?” 30 They went out of the city, and were coming to Him.
Jesus reveals the woman's past and uses this knowledge to guide her to truth and repentance.
2: Peter's discernment of Ananias and Sapphira's deceit
Acts 5:1–11 NASB95
1 But a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property, 2 and kept back some of the price for himself, with his wife’s full knowledge, and bringing a portion of it, he laid it at the apostles’ feet. 3 But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land? 4 “While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.” 5 And as he heard these words, Ananias fell down and breathed his last; and great fear came over all who heard of it. 6 The young men got up and covered him up, and after carrying him out, they buried him. 7 Now there elapsed an interval of about three hours, and his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8 And Peter responded to her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for such and such a price?” And she said, “Yes, that was the price.” 9 Then Peter said to her, “Why is it that you have agreed together to put the Spirit of the Lord to the test? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out as well.” 10 And immediately she fell at his feet and breathed her last, and the young men came in and found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband. 11 And great fear came over the whole church, and over all who heard of these things.
Peter received knowledge of their deception and confronted them.
Let’s be clear....Ananias and Sapphira were not killed by God because they did not give all the money from the sale of their property to the church.
Acts 5:3–4 NASB95
3 But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land? 4 “While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”
They were killed as an example to the community warning everyone don’t lie to Holy Spirit
it worked
Acts 5:11 NASB95
11 And great fear came over the whole church, and over all who heard of these things.

3: Paul's Discernment of a Sorcerer

Acts 13:6–12 NASB95
6 When they had gone through the whole island as far as Paphos, they found a magician, a Jewish false prophet whose name was Bar-Jesus, 7 who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of intelligence. This man summoned Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God. 8 But Elymas the magician (for so his name is translated) was opposing them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. 9 But Saul, who was also known as Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, fixed his gaze on him, 10 and said, “You who are full of all deceit and fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to make crooked the straight ways of the Lord? 11 “Now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you will be blind and not see the sun for a time.” And immediately a mist and a darkness fell upon him, and he went about seeking those who would lead him by the hand. 12 Then the proconsul believed when he saw what had happened, being amazed at the teaching of the Lord.
Its one thing to think that a person is full of all deceit and fraud.
Its quite another to have real knowledge that results in a supernatural result
You will be blind and not see the sun for a time
then it happened.
How did Paul know the heart of Elymas, How did Paul know he would go blind?
Through a word of knowledge.
Paul was Not cursing Elymas as some suggest, but rather He was revealing what God had already intended to do!

III. Purpose and Function of the Word of Knowledge

the purpose of a word of knowledge is to bring clarity, revelation, and insight.
It can be used to reveal hidden truths, encourage others, and guide people toward God's will.
this gift should be used with love, humility, and discernment.
Sometimes it can be confused with the gift of discernment.
Look for the Gold!

IV. Practical Applications

I encourage you to pray for the gift of a word of knowledge and to seek opportunities to use it for God's glory.
the gift can be used to minister to others within the church and community, providing support and guidance.
But remember the importance of using the gift responsibly and with integrity.
The Word of Knowledge is most oftern a precursor to something better
Its not the goal itself,
Don’t get puffed up when you get a word of Knowledge,
its a common trap many believers fall into.
A pride of knowing something others do not!
but rather look to see what God wants to do with it.
It has a purpose.
A word of knowledge can operate with the gift of Healings to increase faith and reveal the will of God
eg, when I pray for healing for a person, before I ask them what thier healing issue is, I often ask God to reveal what their need is.
sometimes I tell them…to build their faith....sometimes I have them tell me....to build my faith!
A word of knowledge can operate with the gift of giving to understand the need that needs to be met
A word of knowledge can operate with the gift of evangelism to open up a door and earn the right to be heard by those you trying to evangelise
A word of knowledge can operate with the gift of a word of wisdom, giving you specific information to apply the wisdom to
A word of knowledge can operate with the Gift of Prophesy given validity to the word given
A word of knowledge can operate with the Gift of discernement revealing hidden truths or intentions that help someone discern the nature of a spiritual influence or situation.
A word of knowledge can operate with the Gift of Teaching and Exhortation
A word of knowledge can provide teachers and exhorters with specific insights or examples to illustrate biblical truths and encourage others in their faith.
This can make teachings more relevant and impactful, as the knowledge can address specific questions or concerns within the congregation.
A word of knowledge can operate with the Gift of Faith
A word of knowledge can strengthen the faith of the individual receiving it or the congregation as a whole by demonstrating God's intimate knowledge and care for His people.
It can also encourage believers to trust God more deeply and to step out in faith when they see evidence of God's active involvement in their lives.

V. How do I recognize a word of knowledge

I word of knowledge can come in many different ways
but look for thing out of the ordinary
Do you know something but don’t know how you know it?
Is something out of order, look for it

1. See It

One way to receive a word of knowledge is by seeing an image or picture.
God will point something out that needs to be acted upon whether He allows us to see it physically with our own eyes, or it could be seen in our mind’s eye through a vision.
eg seeing a billboard with a direct message to me

2. Smell It

3. Think It

Another pathway to receive words of knowledge is through our thought life. Suddenly you just sense that you know something that you were previously not aware of. You receive understanding from heaven. You may receive a word of knowledge by seeing letters or a word, or maybe the Lord shows you someone’s face in your mind’s eye. These all give you a point of engagement with the word of knowledge.

4. Say It

Sometimes while exhorting, testifying to, or praying for an individual, Holy Spirit-inspired words will begin to flow out. These are spontaneous utterances that the speaker may have not even realized were being said.

5. Read It

Another way that you may receive a word of knowledge is by seeing letters or a word in your mind’s eye. This phrase gives you a point of engagement.

6. Feel It

Sometimes unusual physical sensations or bodily impressions reveal important things. God is not afraid to speak through the natural realm.
eg feeling pain in my elbow
empathtic

7. Dream It

While at rest at night, God can also communicate with you. Nocturnal visions can be invigorated with insights from God.
Words of knowledge can be challenging. Nevertheless, I would encourage you to be open to hearing from God in visceral ways. This can stir the heart and open the door to incredible things.

Vi. Conclusion

Pray for the release and recognition of the gift of the Word of Knowledge
