According to George Barna, a survey conducted in 2021 determined that only 6% of US adults who identify as Christian, only 6% of those claim to possess a biblical worldview. That, is a problem.
What is a “worldview”? A worldview is, and I’m not trying to be sarcastic, is how you view world. When we use the term “Biblical worldview” we mean that we look at the world, the issues within it, the way we interact with those living in it, through the lens of Scripture.
Statistically, only 6% of you sitting in front of me today have a biblical worldview. What about the rest? Have you ever heard the term “Secular”? What does that word mean? There are many definitions for secular, but the most basic is “apart from” or “without God.” We tend to associate a secular worldview with atheists, and rightly so, because they certainly do not have a Biblical worldview, they definitive exclude God from their lives, but did you know that you as a Christian, can have a secular worldview as well?
Are there areas of your life where you say “God does not belong here?” Too often we are guilty of saying, “God, you belong in church on Sunday, but not at my job on Monday.” What does that say about your worldview? 1 Cor. 10:31
31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Is there any area of your life where you say to God, “You do not belong here?”
I will tell you in one area we have collectively failed God is in the public arena. 1925, the Scopes Trial, we abdicated the authority of the Bible to the theory of evolution in public education, specifically in the realm of science. In 1962, public schools were no longer allowed to open their day with prayer or Bible reading…a far cry from the original purpose of schools to educate young people how to read so they could read their Bible.
You say, “What does that have to do with me?” Well we’re not just losing in the public sector either. In 1962, the divorce rate was approximately 2%…it’s a little higher than that now, although it is declining! Don’t get your hopes up, its declining because now couples are bypassing the whole marriage part and just living together. According to the census bureau, there are over 18 million children right now growing up without a father in the home.
We’ve told God He doesn’t belong in our government either! Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, and how the media views him is a great example. If you are a Christian and you are running for public office, if you dare evoke the name of God, the Bible or mention your prayer life, you will be ridiculed and labeled a “Christian Nationalist.” Many Christians simply refuse to run for office to avoid dealing with the hate. If no Christian runs, then who does that leave us to vote for?
I would say we have a problem. There are certain areas that we have told God, “You do not belong here.” That, my friend is a secular worldview.
I know what you’re thinking: Pastor, I thought you said we were starting a series on Genesis? We are. See Genesis is foundational to our worldview. Today I simply want to ease into the topic of Rescuing our Biblical Worldview by addressing, not only what the Bible says regarding what we’ve discussed, but specifically how Genesis speaks to those areas we have removed God from.
The word Genesis means, “origins” and that is what it is, the book of origins.
There are three areas I mentioned that we have removed God from: Science, Home, and Government. Now let me ask this: From where do we obtain our understanding of education? of the home? of government? I’ll answer, Genesis. We should have a biblical world view because....

The Bible Answers Questions Science Can’t - Creation
Such as:
Where did I come from?
We are not here by chance or accident
We did not evolve from a single celled creature to the complex beings we are today
We do not share a common ancestor with the apes
We are the direct result of the creative power of our MIGHTY GOD!
Why am I here?
You are here for a reason
You are here for a purpose
You are here because there is a God in heaven that loves you and made you in His image!
Let me tell you, our young people are suffering like never before in this world
The number of suicide attempts and suicides is through the roof.
The number of children, and yes, even adults, dealing with anxiety and depression is staggering
I cannot help but thin part of that is because we have rejected what God has said in His Word.
You will not find answers to why you are here in philosophy, or in science
You will only find the answer to why you are here in the Bible!
Where am I going?
Only in the Bible do learn about eternity
Society rejects eternity, but the Bible tells us of paradise lost in Genesis 3, and paradise regained in Revelation 22.
Genesis 1:1 “1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Darwin wasn’t there, he doesn’t have answers. Richard Dawkins wasn’t there, he doesn’t have answers. Stephen Hawking wasn’t there, he doesn’t have ansewers. God was there, He is the ONLY ONE with the answer! We should have a biblical worldview because...

It is only from the Bible that we get a clear understanding of the roles of:
Husband and Wife - these are clearly defined in Scripture.
Father and Mother
Male and Female

We can try to remove God from our government, but we cannot ignore the fact that God first ordained human government.
Adam given rule (dominion) over the earth
God gave to Noah the death penalty - the ultimate power of government
God Gave to Moses the ten commandments
God wrote His law on the hearts of the heathen - Romans
Conclusion: This is probably the most important sermon series I have ever preached. It is the most needed for our day. I covet your prayers. I invite you to come back each week as we seek to rescue our Biblical worldview, but more than that, I urge you to invite your friends, your family to come with you. You will be challenged in this series, I know that becasue I am already being challenged myself. Here you will be confronted with the TRUTH.
The truth will set you free - from your sin.
The truth will sanctify you - to live a godly life.
The truth will save you - if you will turn from the lies of the world, turn to truth of God’s Word. Understanding your position before God, trusting in Christ as Savior, and turning from your sin to the Savor!
