OPENING
Introduction
John 5:5–8 ESV
One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.” Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.”
1. Life has a way of Life’n – If you will. As precious as life is…we have some days that we ask god….Really?
Can you unequivocally say that you have learned how to deal with life’s calamities?
2. We grew up….singing
a. Through it all, through it all I’ve learned to trust in Jesus, I have learned to trust in God.

the apostle Paul writes In Phil that he has learned how to be abused and abound

the joy in Christ is a defense against all kinds of circumstances and human relationships that could blur our perception of God’s reality.
Since Paul puts so much stress on the necessity for joy in the Lord, we must recognize its importance and its source “in the Lord.
joy is unsustainable if it’s
they that wait on the lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up
Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)
but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.

I. Jesus Knows, and He Cares John v5-6

John 5:5–6 ESV
One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?”
i. there is a Man who had an Infirmity for 38 years
1. The bible says the When Jesus saw him lying there. He knew he had been in this condition for a while.
ii. God has not forgotten about you. Sometimes it hard for our flesh to understand that when I’ve been in this situation years.
iii. Often when we start to reflect on what did work out in the past…We take our eyes off what God is doing in this movement.
Paul says in Philippians 3:13
1. 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
iv. Paul here says forgetting all that is in the past.
1. Yesterday is Yesterday.
2. Tomorrow will take care of itself.
3. But Jesus is calling today.
v. Jesus Poses a question to the man in v6 “Wilt thou be made whole?”
vi. Pastor Long I find “Be made” – Interesting. Before anything can be made you first need a creator.
John 1:1–3 ESV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
vii. The creator cares about his creation.
Genesis 3:10 ESV
And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.”
viii. People of God – this question is are you willing and available to allow HE who made all things take control?
David says in Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sakes.
For his name Sake - Some stuff you going through just for God get to Glory

II. Let God make You

John 5:7 – The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.”
A. Some of us just can’t give a straight answer. Jesus asked the man do you want to be made whole? And he answers with an excuse of why he cant.
a. If we’re honest, some of you can’t give a straight answer.
b. That’s why we’ve been running and have not given God a complete yes.
a. Church culture has turn yes to your will lord, to Just Believe in yourself.
b. They turned turst and Ober for there is no other way to We Follow your heart. Jer 17:9
But I like what Job says….
c. Job has his own song – if you will
i. Job 1:21 KJV
ii. Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD
d. To be Naked – is to be vulnerable.
e. Look at Adam and Eve in Gen. 3rd Chapter
f. Adam says…Because I was naked, I hid myself.
g. Spirt filled believers are hiding because they are ashamed
h. For God to make you WHOLE, you must first be Honest with God.
i. John 4:23 God is a spirit and they that worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.
ii. If we could be honest with God, we would experience a true move of God.
III. Get up and walk John 5:8
John 5:8 ESV
Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.”
After 38 years, he receives his breakthrough
a. The ONE Thing" by Gary Keller suggest that focusing on the most important task at hand,
b. He calls it "THE ONE Thing," he says the key to achieving extraordinary results is focusing on ONE THING.

2. People of God – that thing is you MUST do is put your - Trust in the Lord
Psalm 37:5 ESV
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.
a. COMMIT THYT WAYS TO THE LORD
b. Without faith it is impossible to please God
4. What you can do is…..control your response to your situation
a. We all had When trouble knocks at our door. We decide to SIT in it.
5. You’ve got to get to the place……. When you learn to say “Lord, I trust you.”
