Worship Etiquette
Why do we worship?
We worship out of an overflow of thankfulness to God. To worship is to recognize, honor, and express the worthiness of God that He is due as our maker and Redeemer. Worship is how we meet with God and praise Him for His goodness, love, mercy, grace, wisdom, beauty, truth, holiness, compassion, power, and every aspect of His character that we have experience or are currently experiencing. READ Psalm 100:1–5 “Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.”
Not only does worship change us, but it also makes God known to others and changes their lives, too: “He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the LORD.” (Psalm 40:3)
So, with that I want to say in regards to worship and during the teaching of God’s Word. (Will tonight!!! YAY!)
At CR Students we don’t let anyone around us miss out on Jesus: If there are people around you sitting down during worship or on their phone…you have permission to call them out (gently). If someone near you is being distracting, you should tell them to stop. That’s not mean or insensitive…it’s actually loving to do it. Why? Because we don’t want you or anyone else around you to miss out on God and what He wants to do in your life today. That’s part of our culture at CR Students.
